Corrupted Legends

By herzogar, in Warhammer Invasion Rules Questions

I found the new rules on corrupted legends a bit ambiguous.

The rules refer to restoring cards in the actual rules text (which I guess takes precedence), but mentions only units in the turn sequence diagram. So what about legends?

Also, if it can't be declared as a defender, can it be assigned combat damage? I'm assuming the intension is that it can, but it isn't very clear. If it can't be damaged through combat while corrupted (assuming it was corrupted before an attack against it was declared), using Liber Mortis to corrupt it (or some other way of corrupting it) would seem like a foolproof way of keeping it alive.

Or am I missing something?

The turn sequence was written at a time when only units could actually be corrupted. The core rules are correct there, you can restore one card of any type.

A corrupted legend cannot be declared as attacker or defender. This means

- it can't attack

- it can't defend a zone (if it has the ability to, like from Descendant of Gods)

- if it itself is attacked, it can be dealt damage but won't deal any itself and isn't considered to be participating in combat.

Yes, that's what I assumed was the intention.

The oddity is how it can be dealt damage if it isn't participating in combat. Are there any precise rulings on this?

When you attack a zone, you can deal damage to the zone, even though the zone itself isn't participating in combat. Same thing for legends.

What I posted above are the precise rulings, paraphrasing the lead developer's words. I asked him for clarification myself after the FAQ was released.

Ok, thanks for your response. Hope to see this clarification in the next iteration F.A.Q.

Cheers!
