removing attackers from a challenge

By Sttyca, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Sorry if this question has already been asked, but I'd like a clarification for a strategic play. Say I have Northern Cave and it's winter (making the text valid). I attack with characters in a military challenge, and they block with Bronn (the one with the reverse deadly). I don't want my characters to die, so I kneel the cave to remove them from the challenge and stand them.

My question is: Does this still mean that I have used up my military challenge for the round (barring any other card effects giving me a second)? Or do I still get to do a military challenge?

Note: I understand, based on the regular flow of game, the former is probably the case, but I've run into rules that make no sense before, so I figured I'd ask.

Yes. Barring other card effects that would give you additional MIL challenges, you've used yours up. The same applies of some effect (yours or an opponent's) removes your attacker(s) from the challenge (or from play) or reduces your total attacking STR to 0 before it resolves.

Yeah, it's not that you get to resolve one challenge of each type. It's more that you get to declare one challenge of each type. Resolution is not required for the limit to apply.
