We just played Tsathoggua with the Dunwich Horror herald twice. He obliterated us first game, so we tried again. We don't expect much from the DH herald, but tonight he showed us he had teeth. The first game, he woke up pretty quickly, and happily piled on to our doom. Amanda went at it with fists, clues, Grapple, and Mandy's reroll, relying on good odds, but that fell through pretty dismally. The Dunwich Horror woke up Tsathoggua, we saw we didn't have anything, then tried again.

The second game was truly epic. We started with the solid team of Darrell, Jacqueline and Wilson. We had pretty good stuff, and had a couple gates sealed - no big ones, though. Then gates kept opening. Three times, we were forced into gates to attempt to stave off the Ancient One awakening from too many gates - rare, with three players. We lost our security blanket and most of our stuff when Jacqueline was devoured in a wayward encounter at the Devil's Hopyard. Michael joined the game. At this point, clues were sparse, and Wilson was trucking along with most of the party's clues, dealt crippling blows by consistent injury and madness. The Dunwich Horror chose to show up then, and we saw that we had to take him out. Wilson, with steadfast Richard Upton Pickman, decided to take his Shotgun and Michael's Masquerade of Night, and try his luck. It was with him, as he blew the DH away. Meanwhile, Darrell was winning at encounters at the Inner Sanctum and the Curiousity Shoppe. He took a curse on two different occasions, in exchange for what he wanted. Diving for the last seal, Wilson got shafted on his last encounter, devoured in Celeano when something tried to test him. Resurrected as Jim, he lucked into 2 clues, dove, and sealed on the next turn, two turns before the inevitable.

All told, between Arkham and Dunwich, 14 gates opened, and the DH added one doom. Wilson completed Sacrifices to Make, and Darrell and the Dunwich Horror got us three Elder Signs, leaving the doom at 11. Needless to say, Act II was up most of the game.

Also, it was not a good game for Ruby Standish. Darrell got her in an early STL encounter, then on his next one, ratted her out for a membership. Later that game, she was lynched. Some really interesting possible roleplaying going on there.

According to my stats report, the DH herald triples the chances of the Dunwich Horror awakening.

Nice reports!

Reminds me I still have to play a couple of games with the Dunwich Herald.

Unfortunately, I'm a bit short on time at the moment... sad.gif

Nice report, liked reading it. Played last night and can't wait to play again,..
