Quick Nuke question...

By stwerner92182, in Battlestar Galactica

Do nukes have to be aimed at basestars? For example, if I'm executive ordered as a cylon admiral and want to burn nukes, can I just shoot them off into space? or does a basestar need to be present for me to nuke? I didn't see anything about this in the rules, but it is quite possible that I overlooked it... thanks!

I think you can, especially since if you roll well you can destroy raiders with a nuke. You could be in a situation where even as a human you want to launch a nuke with no basestar present.

No, you may not fire the nukes away at nothing or at other ships. The action listed on the Admiral Title card is very specific- "Action: Launch 1 nuke at a basestar (the nuke is removed from the game)."

As usual, Mattr0polis is correct.

Doesn't it specifically refer to a "cylon ship"? I don't have the card in front of me, but I seem to recfall something. Also, remember that there is an errata to the Admiral's card. The text within the rules is the valid one.

The card specifically says basestar. The only part of the card that was errata'ed was the results chart at the bottom of the card. You still can only fire it off at a basestar.

Here's the exact text one more time:

'Action: Launch 1 nuke at a basestar (The nuke is removed from the game).'
