6 or 7 player expansion?

By kormai, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

I was wondering if they would ever make an expansion to support 5 or 6 hero's.

I love descend but as our playgroup has grown from 4 to 7 people it became impossible to play descend as it is.

I wonder if they ever plan on making nice/balanced rules to implement extra hero's in the campaign.

Like an OL drawing 2 cards instead of 1 with 7, a little extra health or so.

Btw great job on the second edition, i loved the first edition but the second really became alot better/more balanced and shows great potential for expanding.

Very doubtful. First edition never got such expansions so don't hold your breath. Here are some house rules we plan on toying with when our numbers reach that high. Let us know how it turns out and maybe we can adjust.

1) sixth player is an extra hero

2) OL gets an extra minion monster per group

3) OL turns one of his minions into a master

4) OL gets to activate one monster group after the third hero moves. He then reinforces and activates the rest of his monsters on his turn

5) OL gets to activate one monster group after the second and another after the fourth hero moves. He then activates the rest of his monsters on his turn and reinforces as well

6) seventh player is a lt for the overlord

7) sevent player lt gets class cards

I was considering a turncoat scenario where the necromancer and/or the dwarf berserker joined forces with the Overlord against 5 or 6 heroes. The OL's forces would be determined by the net number of heroes: 2 vs. 6 would use the 4-hero monster groups.

Another alternative would be a PvP scenario with no OL. 3 or 4 "heroes" on each side -- with a large, custom map -- and both sides drafting monster groups as allies. You could either run it as a "to the death" match, or add some objective(s) for a "capture the flag" flavor.

Well have been thinking bout it some more.

Getting in extra monsters sounds like a bad idea for me since the board might get to crowded.

But maybe giving the monsters 1 black die extra (from descent first edition) for attacking and 1 brown die for defense might balance it out?

Maybe give the brown die permanent and the black on act 2???

As a 6th hero might enter maybe buff HP? 2 for act 1 and 3 for act 2 or something?

Five heroes taking their turns means possibly five heroes one-shotting your monsters. That's a worst case scenario, but it's possible. The extra monsters are really there to leave yo something to play with. Five heroes doing Ll their actions before OL can respond is huge
