An other new one

By DaTroll, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Greetings!

I'm very new to Desent and the dungeon-crawler boardgame genre. My newly ordered game (via Amazone) isn't even arived yet.

But there are some interresting questions to me:

1) How long durates your first game of Descent?

2) Are there any advices for my first game as Overlord

3) Are there any typeof aditional materials (e.g. rule summarys,..) you use and will never miss again?

Answers are highly welcome.

1) Depends on the quest. Expect it to take anywhere from 4-8 hourse, depending on the quest, player's speed and your knowledge of the rules. I've heard some players say that it can be as short as an hour or two, but I've never had a game that hasn't run at least 4. (Due to the long discussion of "what to do" by my party.)

2) READ! Read the rules, read the FAQ, look through this forum! Make sure that you know enough of the rules to handle most of the questions that you'll get. After that, make the game fun! Bring the players into the story and enjoy being their characters. Don't be evil the first game, just let the players have fun, help them out if they need it, and keep them interested. You'll have plenty of time to squash them like the bugs that they are during the 2nd or 3rd game. gui%C3%B1o.gif

3) Nothing special, though you really want to print out the FAQ. If you decide to get into the Road to Legend expansion (more of a campaign game), then you'll want to get some help. I've seen posts about various sites with sheets and reference guides, but I'm not using one myself. The only thing that I have extra is a laptop with a spreadsheet to keep track of everything in game... much easier to work with then the paper tablet that you get with the game.
