Atlanta ad-hoc Cthulhu meetup

By dboeren1, in CoC Organized Play

This just sort of fell together, but we're having a 4-player meetup at my place tonight. At first it was just me teaching a new player, then his girlfriend wanted to learn to play too, then I managed to find a 4th player so we wouldn't have an odd number.

Besides playing Cthulhu I also hope to teach everyone how to use LackeyCCG to play online.

Anyway, I'll post later with an update on how things went :)

The two new players showed up without any decks, so it's a good thing I made up some quick decks beforehand. Nothing fancy, I basically just whipped up a few mono-faction decks in the 30 minutes or so between getting off work and expecting people to start arriving. I also had two that were already made, so we ended up with a Silver Twilight deck, an Agency deck, Cthulhu Deep Ones, Hastur, and Syndicate. Lee also brought a Miskatonic rush deck.

Everyone had a great time and we got in about 4 games apiece. I also gave a brief tutorial of how to use LackeyCCG and we're planning to start a league with the new FFG league kit starting in a few weeks once Gencon and Dragoncon are over.

The new players both seemed really excited about the game and are planning to expand their card collection to get more deck building options. They took a little time to browse my binder and look at the Cthulhu cards just to see what other stuff was out there.

Big winners for the night were Cthulhu and Silver Twilight - not surprising since these were probably the most "designed" decks. I've made Deep One decks several times before so it was easy to grab just what I wanted, and the Silver Twilight deck had already been used and gone through some light tuning even if it did have a number of "experimental" cards in it as well.
