HELP WANTED FOR A RULE TELEPATHIC COMMUNICATION INSIDE A WARPSTORM

By Casius, in Dark Heresy Gamemasters

I have a part that happens in a solar system that is similar to ours. At one point in the game, there is a warpstorm encompassing system. It may be of telepathic communication with the outside.

One of my player, a psyker, wonder if there may be communication within the system even if a storm chaos.

We looked in all the books we have of DarkHeresy, Rogue Trader, and on the Lexicanum wiki40k and there is nothing which gives us good information.

I appealed to the community and if you had the same question, I would like to know how you handled the situation .. Incidentally, if I ask, Is this the management of this issue will affect this campaign.

Thank you all

Do you mean from one person to another, both inside the warpstorm? Or from a psyker inside a warpstorm and out to someone?
Cause warpstorms block all telepathic communication and warptravel. Its the chaos pre-assault primer ;)

My gut would say that if the send and recipient are on the same side of a warp storm, there may be "interference," but a message could get through. Obviously, if the sender is on the opposite side of a warp storm from its reciever, it will generally be impossible, unless the sender can "overcome" the storm (which falls under GM fiat in the case of players trying to achieve that).

I would represent the effects of a warp storm as a big increase to the chance of psi powers incuring warp phenomena- sort of like the psychic power Weaken Veil, but on steroids…

You could put a +1 to +9 to activation psy rating because the warp is dangerously agitated.

Then trigger psychic phenoma with 9 and 8 or 9 to 7 on the psy dice roll.

Then once more give a +10 to +60 to the psychic phenoma roll.

And finally reduce the telepathic range asking for a willpower contested roll against the "psy rating" of the tempest (see first point the psy modifier is the psy rating of the tempest) x 10.

You can use one or more or all of this to simulate the strenght of the warpstorm.

yes, telepath to an other

i would say it depends how close they are to the "heart" of the storm. psykers exist and use their powers in warp storms: screaming vortex, eye of terror, ect. ect… but a sanctioned psyker near the heart of the storm is more likely to gain corruption, be possessed, or draw other nasties to it. just kind of role play dont stress so much on a fixed rule base.
