Deck using Core + Khazad

By Rheingold, in Strategy and deck-building

Hello,

Like many I am struggling with constructing a deck that I feel can rise to the challenges of the quests in the core set (not the intro quest, but the next 2). I currently own, and will only own for the next while, the Core Set plus the Khazad-Dum expansion. To the veterans: what deck would you make out of those two sets? I put together a Dwarfy Lore/Tactics deck, and a Spirit/Leadership deck just to start, but some direction in this case might be welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Rheingold

Escape from Dol Goldur is one of the hardest solo quests in the game. At least that is my opinion and I think of many others as well.
There have been many decks posted you can try it with, but with the cards you have it would be very hard I think.

Journey along the Anduin should be doable. I have done it several times when I only had the core set.
You could search online for some strategies such as these ones: http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/758594/journey-down-the-anduin-its-all-in-the-cards-you-c

My best decks where always with a lot of questing and low threat to keep the enemies at bay and pick them off one by one.

the problem i see here is that dwarf decks are 100% more powerful when you include one card- Dain. i have created two decks with him (both with bifur, one with thalin and 1 with gloin) and they can win anduin with ease.

dol guldur i still have no luck as its pretty much impossible for solo play.

that doesnt really answer your question, but the truth is that with dain all dwarf decks are so much better.

my advice would therefore be to proxy in dain and see what you think, id also say, given you dont have any song cards, make sure you include narvis belt

Thanks for the input!

Yeah I have reverted to using Journey Down the Anduin as a benchmark, and Dol Goldur as a "maybe someday" solo. I am having decent success with an Eowyn, Denthor, Gloin deck. I got the first two Dwarrowdelf packs over the weekend, and am slowly tweaking the deck with what I have. But now my gf is expressing interest in playing, and I will have to start coming up with some 2-player constructs. A nice problem to have.

I definitely seem to have a lot of Dorf friendly cards, and so I will look into maybe my next expansion purchase including Dain.

Cheers,
