Operation Cerberus or SeeLowe…opinions, please?

By Korro Zal, in Dust Tactics

I'm a Dust Tactics player who is planning on also taking up Dust Warfare (I just got the book last week). I'm now considering adding to my current collection of Dust models to play both games. I currently have both base games (the older big box version and the Revised set), Operation Cyclone, the two command and sniper/spotter squads, both medium artillery walkers and a unit of Tank Busters.

In addition to a couple of new units, I'm also thinking about buying another expansion to get some new options for both games and missions for Tactics. Operation Cerberus seems the best one of the bunch, because I like the building (which could also be used in Dust Warfare). However, SeeLowe looks interesting too, seeing as it has tiles depicting buildings and such (I vastly prefer the tiles to the poster maps when playing Tactics).

I could get both, but I'd like to save money if possible. If I get Cerberus, is SeeLowe also really worth picking up? Will its 3D building make the SeeLowe building tiles unnecessary? Are the SeeLowe missions really worth having, and how do they compare to the Cerberus ones?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.

In terms of Warfare value, definitely go for Cerberus. The 3D buildings are perfect for the tabletop game, while SeeLowe's building tiles would go unused in Warfare.

BUT, if that's not your main criteria, then you should certainly consider SeeLowe. If you think of getting the Axis Gorillas, Markus is a must. Also, since you already have the Hammers and Tank Busters, Ozz is a VERY interesting option. The heroes in Cerberus are certainly nice, but not on the same "these squads won't really be of much use without these heroes"-level. Also, I find that SeeLowe has some of the best scenarios in the game, much more balanced than the Cerberus ones.

Building tiles becoming obsolete with the 3D building is an interesting issue. On one hand, it would be natural to put the tiles aside when you have the option of cool 3D multy-storey buildings. BUT, they do offer different advantages. The SeeLowe tiles offer much more variety than the SeeLowe building. While the plastic pieces are supposedly modular, they are actually built in a way that really limits your options. There's no way to make the internal divisions the tiles have, nor the variety of wide and narrow entrances. You'd need at least 2 Cerberus buildings to create all the buildings included in SeeLowe. The 3D buildings offer a cool look, and the multi-storey option. The tiles offer increased variety and more truncated battlefield, which makes a small map feel bigger.

Thanks for the advice. SeeLowe does sound useful, particularly for Tactics games. I guess I'll splurge and pick up both.

Now I just have to finalize what other units to get. I'm thinking about getting the two hero packs, a unit of Red Devils (to use with Action Jackson) and two units of Zombies (so I can field both zombie heroes if need be). I can use Ozz with my Tank Busters, but I'm not really interested in Apes, so I guess Markus will go to waste.

Markus is one of the few heroes who can do pretty well on his own, if you don't get the apes.

Owning SL and seeing Cerberus i must say that SL is a much better investment for dust player. Also the buldings in cerberus are horrible in my opinion so i would avoid getting that and search for heroes separetly;) And i guess u can always sell marcus on E-bay:D
