Talisman: The Dungeon artwork sneak peeks at Talisman Island

By talismanisland, in Talisman

Hey guys

Just a note to say that from this evening for the next week there will be a couple of images posted over at Talisman Island showcasing some of the fantastic new artwork from the new Dungeon expansion.

Feel free to speculate about what the new cards might do! I hope you enjoy them!

Cheers for now

Jon

Cheers for the pictures.

Looks pretty cool!

Do you know if this is the style of art for the whole set or will there be a mixture of artists. Wonder if the instructor and doppleganger will be in and if the art will be the same as the promos

Geoff

All i can say is i wish i could draw as well as that!

I still don't like the art of that guy on the front of the box, even more so now with seeing how it doesn't really mesh with the other two pictures on TI's site from Dungeon, or the other 4.5e art from the base game or Reaper.

I dunno, just reminds me of the Games Workshop 3e days (not in a good way).

If anything I would say he reminds me of the old range of Citadel Chaos Warriors... and you can't beat a bit of "skull action" in Talisman! gran_risa.gif

Just to let people know I've adjusted the images on the front page to be slightly larger.

When I look at the first image I cant help but think of "The Black Gate Opens" from the Lord of the Rings either that or Rodin's "The Gates of Hell". My bet is a Place Adventure card thats a roll to fight X. And the second image either a Follower with restrictions or a Stranger that gives strenght with some sacrifice.

Cool, when I first saw the main photo of all the characters attacking I got all but the Philosopher right... No clue on what the cards might be from the pictures. I like the art but I even appreciated 3e... I really hope someone makes up some new cards so we can play our 3e characters with the newer game if we desire.... I need to get to work painting!!!!

Sneaky peek number 2 is now over at Talisman Island featuring more from Ryan Barger and a great picture from McLean Kendree, as well as the box art featuring the Lord of Darkness by Ralph Horsley.

More tomorrow!

This is great! I personally love the look of the box art. And I still have my copy of Talisman 3rd Ed. And I still LOVE IT!! The Dungeon expansion is going to be Awesome! My brother was excited to see the Gladiator as that was the first character he had ever played when we were first introduced to Talisman oh so long ago now it seems. Great to see FFG having the Talisman product line. Now its the waiting for this to come out. But it gives me time to paint the minis in the core and reaper sets.

I like the artwork a lot.

The Dark Denizens reminds me of the Black Gates of Mordor. Nice !!

I am wondering what the card does: Maybe you must roll a dice and take as many enemy cards from the deck and place it on empy spaces in the dungeon or something,

Or maybe that all creatures in the dungeon are power up.

I also like the Goblin King !

Maybe it says that all goblins in the dungeon have a strength of +2 or someting like that gui%C3%B1o.gif

I hope we see some undead too ! gran_risa.gif Or maybe a Minotaur.

Always grateful for previews. Thanks!

I'm glad you are enjoying them!

Today's update is now complete with some artwork from Jonathan Moriarty and yet another piece from Ryan Barger!

There also a very interesting picture taken by our very own rcmoore of a mini that he received as part of his Reaper expansion. A prerelease of the Amazon!

Until tomorrow....

I like the black spider. It reminds me of Shelob's Lair lol gran_risa.gif

But i like the goblin king more lol gran_risa.gif

The crystal is also nice gui%C3%B1o.gif

But i am more interested in enemies than objects lol ( but that's just me;) lengua.gif

Props! Glad to know I'm not the only one who's interested in more than the next power toy. I like to build my characters by grit and effort.

And Jon... as always... thanks for the inside sneak peek of future fun!

Okay you two. Just for you I'll try to post some more bad guys tomorrow! gui%C3%B1o.gif ... or maybe one and something else!

Only 5 characters *sob*

That spider looks nasty, willing to wager it will take a check to make sure your not caught in its web.

You mean 5 MORE characters... so far...

How many Characters do you need? 23 Charactes are enough for an entire life of continuous gaming.

I'm looking forward to see board add-ons and dedicated Adventure cards. These are the most intriguing features of Dungeon expansion so far.

23 really doesn't sound that much. Current AH + DH combo packs 24 investigators and after 72 games (4 investigators pretty much in all), everyone has seen multiple action. The Talisman I used to play as a kid was the Finnish version of the 2nd edition and that came with the original expansion built in, so you had 28 characters (IIRC) in just the "base game". Added to that was the Adventure expansion (OT: Horrible Black Void!!! gran_risa.gif ) that brought the # of characters to 36. After 5+ years, you bet every char had seen ridiculous amounts of action. Sure, the games were played with a time break in between, but you still knew the characters inside out and none felt new for a long time at the end. Talisman was fun, so we played the hell out of it, but having new chars added to the mix would've added even more interest.

I understand a little why Roy is not satisfied with it.

If you look to the 2th expansion.

Base game (same)

Talisman expansion 14 characters

talisman adventure 8

talisman dungeon 14 ! <---------

Timescape 8

city 2

dragon 4

-------

total 64 characters !

-----------

So far ( the reaper has only 4 characters and the dungeon has only 5 characters( not as much if you compare it to the 2th edition dungeon)

(So we are missing at this moment 18 characters if you compare it to the 2th edition)

------------------

But remember, we get something else for it in return !

128 dungeon cards ! instead of 36 + 10 adventure cards instead of 4 !

+ a new type card called Treasure... !

Ok, but not every Character was well rounded and balanced like the ones in the revised 4th Edition. Timescape Characters are quite horrible for my taste and I feel the same towards some naive Characters in the fantasy-based expansions.

However, looks like you guys have much more chances of playing than me. I own a lot of boardgames and I wish I could play at least two or three times a week. Mostly I end up playing twice a month, therefore 23 Characters are more than enough for me to play with.

Today's update featuring artwork by Felicia Cano and Ryan Barger has a couple of chaps that you would probably not like to meet on your travels!

A slightly larger pic of the back of the Dungeon box is up there too in order to tease you a little more!

Enjoy!

Looks from the picture of the board that the entrace is right below the ruins....
