Cards with the same name

By spiersnv, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Hi

A couple of questions :

  • Is it permissable to have two diferent cards for the same character in your deck and if so can they be played on top of one another like duplicates - in which case which capabilities count if they are diferent. Eg I have three diferent cards for Ed Stark.
  • Can you have two diferent types of cards with the same name in your deck, if so can they be in play at the same time, eg I have two Summer (dire wolf not season), one is an attachment the other a character in its own right.

Thanks

Nigel

The rules for unique cards are driven entirely by title. Only the title matters. This means:

  • You may have any version, type, etc. in your deck. So long as they have the same title, they are considered the "same."
  • You may only have 3 total cards (regardless of version, type, etc.) in your deck.
  • Once you play one version, type. etc. of a unique, that is the only card with that title you can have in play.
  • If that card leaves, play, you can play a different version, type, etc. EXCEPT…
  • A unique card in your dead pile stops you from playing any other card with the same title (no matter what version, type, etc.)
  • You may use any unique card to dupe another unique card with the same title (so "Grey Wind" attachments can dupe "Grey Wind" characters, and vice versa).
  • As stated above, once you play one version, type, etc. of a unique, that is the only card with that title you can have in play - so while you can dupe it with any version of the card by title, it is always the dupe that is discarded to save, never the original one you played.
