I' ve in play Jaqen H'qar -- Any phase: Bring Jaqen H'ghar out of Shadows by paying the rest of his cost to choose 1 non-Army character in an opponent's dead pile that was killed this phase, and attach it to Jaqen H'ghar as a duplicate. Jaqen H'ghar gains the printed text, base STR, icons, traits and crests of that card. If that duplicate leaves play, retunr Jaqen H'ghar to Shadows.( www.agotcards.org/card/v/3984/eng/jback ). My opponent reveals Fortified Position -- Treat all characters in play as though their printed text boxes were blank (except for Traits). Limit 1 per plot deck.( www.agotcards.org/card/v/850/eng/jback ).

So, what will happen with Jaqen?

At first, I thought -- okey, he is blank, and now just useless 0 STR guy without icons or anyting. But now I've doubts. I think that his ability to gain printed text, icons, etc isn't constant effect, printed on the card, but lasting effect, created by triggered effect. In this situation, when Fortified Position revealed, Jaqen will keep gained text, icons, stregth, etc.

Am I right in my second suggestion? Any thoughts on the matter?

You are correct about blanking him doing nothing. His ability is a lasting effect triggered by taking him out of the shadows with his ability.
