Soooo no new faq then?

If anything completely meta shaking were being considered wouldn't they have to have released it already? We are now less than 4 weeks from Gencon.

I'm assuming we'll have one, accompanied by an updated tourney rules document just to "officially sanction" the 3rd chapter pack. As it stands right now, technically only the second chapter pack is legal for regionals events, right?

Technically, according to the tournament rules, only up to and including Valar Morghulis is legal. We really need an update before Gencon. The sooner, the better.

This. I was really hoping we'd see it today, but every day makes things tougher for those going. Is Griff really going to be available to every house? Will Castle Battlements work at all? Who knows?

Why, I swear I'll set myself on fire today if they do not publish a new FAQ today! (That'll learn 'em.)

you ser, are a real man. i applaud your testicular fortitude.

I would imagine the deadline is Thursday (3 weeks before the first Gencon event).

I would also imagine that it will primarily consist of corrections and "clean up" to make misworded cards "work." I would not expect to see major changes.

Yes, I would hope that any new FAQ would just update the tournament-legal card pool and make a couple clarifications to Castle Battlements, that Wildingfella, and perhaps Sorrowful Man. Maybe defining (or listing) what a "character agenda" is would be a good idea too.

while there is still more time today, it looks like we are going to have to keep waiting to less than 3 weeks before gen con to know any faq changes and card legality (though we all expect through chasing dragons to be a safe bet)

Hopefully it's one of those back to back articles posted where after this spoiler comes the new FAQ:

Volantis Inn

The amount of time they are taking to release the update is frustrating to say the least…. i have actualy heard some competative players saying it may be time to move games to a new one where the company cares about the competative scene. Thats not good…where is the update already.

while i too would like to see it sooner, it seems beyond ridiculous to consider quitting over an faq update that was never promised to be coming at all let alone confirmed for a particular date. past performance should not dictate future expectations :)

I was thinking of responding to that with something less polite and well spoken.

Thanks, dcdennis.

I agree. I think folks should be practicing with and against Chasing Dragons anyway under the assumption that it will be legal for GenCon. Depending on the FAQ changes, what if it is 2 weeks out? Will 2 weeks not be enough notice?

Short of banning Maester's Path, nothing in an FAQ posted in the next two weeks could be so serious as to undo anyone's prep. for Gencon, especially when you consider the usual "1 week" practice.

While I don't think banning TMP is likely, making one of the links or the agenda itself a restricted card seems very much on the table and could definitely alter prep, I'd think. Also the question of whether or not VD and CD chapter packs are legal is a bit important. Not sure what the '1 week' practice refers to, as I've been playing < a year. And lastly, the possibility of Griff being 'House Targ only' like all the other chargendas could change some stuff.

This is what I'm getting at. There is not likely to be anything in a new FAQ that people have not already anticipated and started planning for. The likelihood that someone is going to have to start building decks from scratch based on a new FAQ is pretty small.

Hmm…I'm slightly more reassured, I suppose, if this is how they always do things.

Even with the assumption VD and CD are going to be legal for GenCon, I anticipate the new FAQ will be available before Friday this week.

and given that it is so soon before gencon i think it is probably safe to assume nothing earth shattering will change.

I admit the closer we get to Gencon, the more I expect the new FAQ to have very minor changes. Sad, since I really wanted to see a dramatic shake-up to Maesters.

Me too! Ban The Maester's Path. It feels like you either have to build a MP deck or build against the MP. Even, though there will be a lot of unhappy players and many complainers, I would love to see an FAQ come out this week which bans the MP. Can you imagine how different and varied the field will be at Gencon. That would be nice to see. Besides, don't worry about the complainers. They will always complain no matter what.

It wouldn't bother me the least bit if that happened.
