Using Harvey for the first time...

I had to make a Will Save and loose 1 SAN for each failure. I assume you add up the failures and then take one less SAN loss...

Is that correct?

Seems a little too good to take it on an individual basis.

That's the way I play it, for the exact reason you cited. In the end, he should be losing 3 sanity, for example, but his special ability makes him lose 2.

I can see where its a little vauge, but common sense seems to dictate, that if you have 4 failures (as I did) then you should loose 3 SAN and not one less for each failure.

Exactly. That encounter was one big source of sanity loss, not a bunch of tiny sources.
