Gossip about "Scourge the Heretic" sequel (and forthcoming Ciaphas Cain books)

By Nerd King, in Dark Heresy

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Alex "Sandy Mitchell" Stewart at a book signing at my local GW store and so I took the chance to ask him for any tidbits about the forthcoming Dark Heresy novel "Innocence proves nothing" (the sequel to "Scourge the Heretic").

The book should be out for Games Day '09 (not big news) and in his words contains a lot of "running and fighting and death" happy.gif Most of the action is set during a looooong space journey (or rather two separate space journeys as the characters are split up) with the main group of acolytes aboard....the Misericord. happy.gif

Should be cool.

He's currently writing a new Ciaphas Cain short story for a special Games Day book and then he'll begin work on the next Cain novel which will also feature some of Cain's activities with the Reclaimers Space Marine chapter in an adventure he described as "Ciaphas Cain and the marines assault a Space Hulk" (I suggested that that sounded like the toddler's board book version). That and the following novel will cover what Cain got up to during the second Tyrannic War. He also implied that it may feature the Tau working with the Imperium against the Tyrannids , whilst forces within both Imperial and Tau sides act to try and destabilise the loose alliance. Meanwhile the Reclaimers work to their own aggenda. It all sounds like jolly good fun happy.gif

Awesome, I'd been scouring the net for info on what he was doing, and here it drops in my lap on this board. Many Thanks!

No probs - I thought it was good to share.

And may I say he's a really nice guy. He was geniuinely interested in chatting and discussing the books, the hobby as a whole and gave time to the kids who were playing in store who kept coming over and asking him this and that.

It also turns out he's a member of the Aikido club one of my players belongs to. Small world.

Yeah, from the brief bios I'd read of the guy he seemed pretty cool. Plus he's a family man if I recall correctly, so no shock he'd be good with the kids. :)

Thanks for all that - really glad to hear more Cain and Acolytes in the works - makes me very happy :)

I (and I suspect many others) find them highly enjoyable novels - please ask your player to pass on my thanks !

That sounds interesting!

Thanks for the update.

Scourge the heretic wasnt blindingly good but it was fun and I loved the subtle references (or not so subtle references) to John Le Carres books.
