Discarding morribound charachters to pay for effects?

By loffenx, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Hello, quick Q: Can i discard a morribound charachter to pay for a cost? With Yoren's Task, for example.

Any Phase: Discard 1 Night's Watch character from play to search your deck for 1 different Night's Watch character, reveal it,and add it to your hand. Then, shuffle your deck.

A moribund card may not have it's destination changed.

So no, I'm afraid you cannot discard, kill, return to hand, or in any other way remove from play a moribund character to pay for anything.

You couldn't even do it if it was moribund to the same place that you're trying to send it, because as far as the game is concerned, you're trying to change the destination, even if you're changing it to the same thing.

A moribund card is "on its way out." It cannot, therefore, be removed from play a second time (which is what killing, discarding, etc. for cost would require you to do).

Note also that since all moribund cards are physically removed from the table at the end of each action window. That means the whole "using moribund cards 'on their way out' as if they were in play" is only ever going to apply to Response effects. So even if moribund cards could be "removed from play a second time" to pay for killing/discarding/etc. cost, you'd only be able to do it for Response effects - leaving Yoren's Task completely high and dry.
