Copying Effects

So when you copy an effect, say with Rickon, Response: After an effect allows you to search your deck, kneel Rickon Stark to copy that effect. (Limit once per phase), do you pay the costs of the copy? I'm remembering the answer as no. I could be wrong. Also, let's say Rickon copies To Be A Wolf, does the opponent get to name a new card type? I think yes, but again, could be wrong.

I believe that you dont have to pay the cost again, that is 'paid' in a sense by rickon kneeling, you only copy the effect. Seeing as the effect is copied it should include any constraints of the original effect, if you copy summoning/building then you pick another opponent (only really important in melee) and in to be a wolf the opponent would nominate a type you could not search for.

I think…

So basically, i agree with you :D

So far as I know, that is the correct answer.

Note that you copy the effect , and not the ability. So, in the example of copying the effect from a character ability, the wording would directly imply that you're not paying the cost.

Remember that you are triggering the copy (eg, Rickon), not the effect you are copying. That means you pay the cost of the copy (ie, what you are triggering). "Do X to Do Y," right? But with a copy, it's "Do X to Do the Y written on some other card."

That is a much better way of saying what I was trying to say.
