Texas Players Interested in attending the Path of the Master Championship

By Nubian_God, in UFS General Discussion

The Dallas/Ft Worth area playgroup's attending, and some of us are driving up. If you're anywhere in Texas and would like to go along with us, hit me up here. I need to know who all's interested in going so I can determine what kind of vehicle to rent. Also, we may be able to work out some kind of deal concerning hotels if you'd like. But if you're interested AT ALL, get at me now so we have time to work out details and get accurate pricing.

I would like to go but when is the exact date for it? Also I live in El Paso so how would I work? Would I take a bus to the Dallas area and meet up with you guys?

I'ma need how much time I have. I live in San Antonio. I can hitch a ride up to Dallas, no problem at all. The problem simply is when does this need to occur, and how much money am I going to need?

The event is officially on the 18th and 19th of April.

If you arrive on the 17th, there will be people at FFG offices up until 10pm.

My game plan is that we leave Dallas Thursday night as close to midnight as possible. With breaks for food and gas, that should put us at the hotel around 3 pm (pending traffic).

On the way back, I plan on leaving early Monday morning after check-out, so putting us back in Dallas that night. For anyone interested in going with us, I'm more than down for letting you crash at my place that Monday before you head back to your part of Tejas.

To anyone who takes Brian up on that offer (^ the one right there ^): my room is rigged with traps. I'm good friends with Micheal Bay, so you know what that means...

Ed: Please be aware that that wasn't particularly serious. I'm just territorial.

If anyone is interested in going, but would like to fly - I for one am kinda up for that. That ride to Worlds was rough (urgh). And that way, we could get ze rental vehicle/hotel check-in stuff taken care of before everyone gets there, and still have time to get in on the action at FFG HQ early on in the day. I think I'm going to shoot for flying out mid-to-late Thursday night. Let me know if you're interested - there may be a group rate or something.

If I go I'll most likely be flying.. man.. $400 roundtrip. At least there's no entry fee for the event and there's a free pizza party sat night. My plans for Nationals are getting fuzzy and this invitational is looking more solid.

You guys are crazy to drive but if you have the energy, time and patience then good luck to you all. Road trips are hella fun but man does it drain you.

That is very true I can't do any road trips since I live at the bottom of the country . But how far is the drive to MN from TX?

Apparently about 14-15 hours...roughly 2 hours more than the drive to Worlds.

Whoa thats a while lol but at least you guys dont have to fly everywhere like me .

Yeah I am pretty much needing to know the same things. Especially how much I am going to need.

Sorry for the delay in updating, but I've crunched the numbers and here's where we stand:

With 4 people intending on driving up there from Dallas, along Sol Badguy and MarcoPulleaux, I'd probably rent a mini-van.

With me picking up the van Thursday night, and us dropping it off Tuesday morning, it'll run $439.78. It has an avg. fuel economy of 20 mpg, so with a round trip distance of 1,988 and guessing that avg. gas prices are $2 a gallon, total gas would be $200. So total, it would come out to be $639.78.

Amongst 6 people, each person would chip in about $107. Mind you, I know that if you'd posted on this thread that you're not 100% committed, and I'm not holding you to this. I'm just projecting.

Now if more people would like to come, we'd get the 12 passenger van, which would cost $579.52, has an avg. fuel economy of 15 mpg, and would cost $266 for gas. Total would be $845.52, but if we get 8 people to go, the cost would be cheaper than the mini-van ($105.69). So don't be shy in inviting your friends.

I'd like to have a final head-count locked in by the 20th, so we can go ahead and reserve the van and lock the price in. If you want to go after this date, you still should be able to depending on how many people we have going already, but I wouldn't be able to guarantee anything. On the flip side, PLEASE don't mark yourself as a sure thing and find some reason to cop out at the last minute. By the 20th, I would like to set up some kind of PayPal transfer system so we can get the van rented out without worry of having to raise the price for the others.

Just to let everyone else know, one of the guys going doesn't have ANY patches, so he can mule anything you've got. Hit me up and we can make arrangements.

Something very important that I found out while driving the Minnesota RollerGirls to all-star games and tournaments: Iowa does not allow large vans (like the 15-passenger ones). Seriously. We had to drive around Iowa to get to Omaha. I'd hate to have you guys drive up only to get pulled over.

Wow...

...you drove RollerGirls around?! How was that?! =O

But seriously, appreciate the heads-up, and I'll plan accordingly.

Just to remind those interested, I'd like to have an idea of who's planning on going by the 20th, so hit me up if that's you!

I still can't be sure so i don't want to give you a yes and then change to a no....

If anything I will use your guy with no patches to take mine...

That's cool, and I understand. If you do find out you can go, hit me up (even if it's after the 20th). Chances may be that we still don't have a full ride by then, so it never hurts to ask.

On a side note, if anyone's interested in going to Texas Throwdown, pre-register now so you'll at least get some free stuff (and free entry for Singles) if you do wind up going.

I still do. It's a lot of fun, I'm actually one of the announcers for the league. I'll be going to Michigan the weekend after PotM, then Philly twice this summer.

Dallas has a couple choices for derby, the Dallas Derby Devils and the Assassination City Roller Derby. Have you been to those?

Right now it's looking really bad for me =(

I got Fire/Order/Air/Earth/Void/Water patches. How do you want me to contact you so that we can work out the sending details?

I'm interested in attending both POTM and Texas Throwdown, but no promises can be made, unfortunately. Still unemployed, and there's no point in asking my driver friend, "Hey dude, do you think you could drive me to Dallas in 2 months", because obviously he doesn't even know what he's up to then.

But...yes, I am interested, and I have...4 or 5 patches, not sure.

That sucks to hear, man. =/ But yeah, hit me up on [email protected] and we'll work out the details. Just out of curiousity, can you see my e-mail address in my profile? I could never figure out how that worked. =S

It's in 3 weeks isn't it? the POTM I mean.

I haven't actually checked XD. I remember I couldn't see them when the site first launched so I kind of forgot about it. I just checked now and even though you are on my buddy list it says E-Mail is hidden =/

It's still not a FOR SURE no on the POTM even but i'ts just not looking like it can happen. Mostly because I can't get a ride to Dallas. I could probably get the money for the van and stuff. Getting to Dallas and back is the problem.
