I've been toying with the idea of making a viable E. Honda deck for quite some time. With the goodies from set 11, I think I might have a decent shot. Typical Water tank tricks apply. I ran this deck yesterday, and it fared well, but I think it could use a little tweaking:
1 x ::E. Honda::
Attacks: 8
2 x Feline Spike 7/1 +1L
2 x Sakura's Shinku Hadoken 4/3 +1M
4 x Omnidirectional Cluster Bomb 5/3 +1M
Foundations: 35
2 x Hybrid Style 2/4 +2M
3 x Familial Loyalty +2M
3 x Rapid Ares Style +1M
3 x Battle Prowess 1/4
4 x Chester's Backing 4/6 +1M
4 x Strife's Patronage 2/5 +0H
4 x Program Malfunction 3/5 +1M
4 x Chinese Boxing 3/4 +3M
4 x The Angel of Evening 2/5 +2L
4 x Empire's Ruin 1/5 +2M
Actions: 12
3 x Your Mind is Known to Me 3/5 +3M
3 x Rejection 3/5 +1L
3 x Tag Along 5/4
3 x Kung-Fu Training 2/5 +1M
Assets: 4
4 x Olcadan's Mentoring 0/6 +0L
Sideboard: 8
1 x Tag Along 5/4
1x Kung-Fu Training 2/5 +1M
1 x Rejection 3/5 +1L
1 x ::Lizardman::
1 x Familial Loyalty 2/5 +2M
1 x Hybrid Style 2/4 +2M
2 x Sakura's Shinku Hadoken 4/3 +1M
Key cards/combos:
Your Mind is Known to Me: This is a no-brainer. With E. Honda's static ability, this becomes a robo-block. Hand peek never hurts, either. If your opponent throws something scary at you that's off-center, simply use Rejection, then recur with Hybrid Style, so you can keep your card pool clean.
Hybrid Style: Zero points for originality on this one, but it's less annoying than the Gorgeous Team version you'll find in Sakura and Seong Mi-Na (see above.) Also allows you to pull Your Mind is Known to Me back into your hand after a reversal or off-center attack.
The Angel of Evening: Often overshadowed by its counterpart (Shooting Capoera), this baby is the mortar in the Great Wall of Honda. Being able to ready Chinese Boxing makes your opponent think twice.
Strife's Patronage: Once again, hand peek is sweet. Also assures you that you'll be able to block almost anything.
It's a very simple deck, and as such, it has several Achilles heels. CC Hax is brutal to the sumo wrestler, and discard of any kind can slow things down to a crawl. Kill-wise, it is heavily reliant (read: entirely dependent) on Feline Spike, and against another tank, it runs the risk of decking out.
Suggestions are definitely welcome- I want to fine-tune this deck so it can address at least one of its glaring deficiencies.
Thanks in advance.
