Drusian Confessor Homebrew - Critique Please

By Fgdsfg, in Rogue Trader House Rules

Alright, so, for some reason, I can't truly find a niche I wanted for the Missionary I was working on making. No matter how I twisted and turned things, it just didn't turn out "just right", unless I'd be prepared to request a mountain of elite advances. I won't go through all the iterations of the missionary, but it was everything from a Frontier World Crusader to a Battlefleet Driver-Chaplain. I worked primarily with the Drusian Adherent and the Torchbearer (both from Into the Storm) in mind.

But in the end, I decided that what I wanted to do was the fire-and-brimstone Confessor, flamethrowers in one hand, judgement in the other, Inquisitor style, Fellowship-monkey.

But the more I messed with it, I just couldn't get it to work "just right" for my concept. Even my basic concept would not be realized until Rank 5 or 6 at best, or massively expensive (1000xp or even more) elite advances. What I wanted was twofold: A priest of the Emperor, based around fellowship, charming and intimidating, scrutinizing, interrogating, realizeable by or during Rank 1. Even when declaring the experience costs of Origin Paths moot, I just couldn't get it right. Secondly, I wanted to be able to realize the flames, flames, flames and only flames, cleanse the world in holy promethium by or during Rank 2. I'm not trying to do anything "overpowering" here, I just want to reconcile certain choices and Alternate Careers to be able to play a character I would be comfortable with at a relatively early stage.

I started rummaging about my Dark Heresy books until I found exactly the things I wanted, or at least partway-wanted. The Confessor Alternate Career (Blood of Martyrs) and the Pyroclast (Daemon Hunter). This is my attempt to create a setting-appropriate Rogue Trader-adapted version of the Confessor, an Alternate Career available at Dark Heresy Rank 1, somewhat mashed-up with the Drusian Adherent, available at Rogue Trader Rank 1.

Later I hope to create some kind of Pyroclast for Rogue Trader as well, but it could take just about forever before I get around to it, but it's what I'm considering, anyway.

I would appreciate any form of critique:

Both Pages at once (my work format): img837.imageshack.us/img837/3448/roguetraderdrusianconfe.png

The individual pages should be A4-printable.

I actually think that the fire-and-brimstone Confessor is pretty easy to pull of with the Missionary but okay.
Scholastic Lore (Imperial Creed) is listed twice in the Advances with different prices. I'm assuming the second one is supposed to be SL (Imperial Creed) +10.

Resistance(Interogation) is something you made up. Now there's nothing wrong with that but you should probably put a little paragraph somewhere explaining what it does.

Peer (Ecclesiarchy) should be a bit more expensive. The Missionary only get access to it at Rang 6 at even then its only for 200 xp.

You could replace Hatred (Xenos) with Hatred (any one) or something along those lines. I'm not really familiar with the Drusians but since the Calyx Expanse was inhabited my more than just Xenos I could imagine that the Drusians also have quite a hatred for secessionist or similar heathens.

First of all, thanks a lot for the comment, I was almost starting to think I was the only one here. :D

Well spotted. I have absolutely no idea how that happened. Probably a mixup on my part when throwing together the Drusian Adherent with the Confessor and looking over the Missionary Rank 1 or something along those lines. I am almost entirely sure that I didn't mean to give Scholastic Lore (Imperial Creed) +10. I'll probably just end up nixing the 100xp one.

Nope, I ripped it straight out of the Core Rulebook. It is usually granted by the Renegade - Recidivist Lure of the Void option and I added it as a purchasable advance with the logic of Confessors training on eachother. Had it been an Elite Advancement Package, I would even have thrown it in for "free".

Taken straight from the Drusian Adherent, same cost, same rank-level and everything.

I mulled this over quite a lot, but I decided to go with Hatred (Xenos) specifically due to the Drusian ideal of conquest of foreign worlds (straight from Drusian Adherent). Hatred (Secessionists) is an excellent suggestion, though, consider it added. :D

hatred (heretics) would be good here as well

Mildly off-topic, but i've always had slight slight issues with hatred heretics. It just seems… Overly broad..

:)

I apologize for the double-post, but I simply cannot be bothered today with the inadequate, rubbish forum software and it's inability to copy/past text and so on. It's simply too much work to merge two quotes into the same post.
