Some Questions

By Inquisitor Liss, in Mutant Chronicles

Eisenhorn (from this forum) and I played a game last night of 10/10/10 and we had a few questions come up during the course of the game. The first question concerns the power summon golem and grappling figures. If a golem is in base with a figure that has grappling can it be summoned to a new spot or is this power cancelled by the grapple ability like moving or walking away? and what is the exact timing of the buyback for command cards? ie does it occur immediately so that same card could be used on my turn say or does it occur at the end of the round? the questions arises from the ability to place ice hexes with the Ilian commnad card ability. If the buyback is immediate I could place an ice hex on my turn, buy it back and then place one on my oppositions turn and buy it back etc.. We had always played immediate because that was the impression the book gave us.

First part of this was answered by Coral Beach in another thread that Jeff asked about:

I'll ask the question to Nate French but here some first elements :

Grapple keyword specifies the ennemy adjacent figure cannot move (ie a move action), so I think several game effects will override the Grapple special ability (like Apocalypse, Tactical retreat, Teleportation, Transport, Summon Golem or Grave Walk) because they are not move action.

I LOVE THIS GAME!!

Never thought of it like that. unless you use the move action I guess it would override the ability.

For grapple special ability, the question has been asked to game designer. (for first answer, see reply #24 at the following thread)

For buyback command cards, the timing is clearly explicited at pg.27 of the rulebook :

Concerning order token spending "When you play a command card with a buyback price, you may immediately move that number and rank of order token(s) from your unused order pool to your used order pool to place that command card in your used order pool."

Concerning command card retrieving " At the end of the round , when you retrieve your used orders, you may also retrieve any command cards that are in your used order pool, returning them to your hand."

So you can't retrieve command cards immediatly by buyback, only at the end of each round. Only specific units like Tekron Warmaster, Security Specialist, Ranger Commander and Inquisitor Majoris can retrieve command cards immediatly after detroying ennemy units.

Concerning Freezing Wind command card from Ilian extension, I would be mistaken but this card has not buyback option (I'm basing on a work version of Ilian card list).

That answers alot of questions. It makes pretty good sense.
