A Noldor deck

By leptokurt, in Strategy and deck-building

After enjoying the dwarf faction a lot, I decided to concentrate on the elves, with all these cool new cards around. The idea came to me when I wanted to build a deck around the new Glorfindel and the Twins and realized that they all have the Noldor trait. So I built a deck around this trait, with little support of the Rangers . I had a hard time if I should include Steward of Gondor (after all Faramir is in my deck), but it didn't fit with the theme. The deck ist hus less strong, but has more flavour. It is far away from being superb, but it's a solid deck that has a 6-2 streak against Foundations of Stone. Usually I need 9-13 turns to complete the scenario. I used one core set and all published expanions until FoS.

Here it is:

Heroes (total threat: 25)

Glorfindel (spirit), threat 5

Elrohir (leadership), threat 10

Elladan (tactics, threat 10

Spirit (21 cards, total cost: 29 + x)

2 x Northern Tracker

3 x Arwen Undómiel

3 x Imladris Stargazer

1 x Unexpected Courage

3 x Light of Valinor

2 x Hasty Stroke

2 x A Test of Will

3 x Elrond's Counsel

2 x Stand and Fight

Leadership (10 cards, total cost: 23)

2 x Erestor

2 x Faramir

1 x Celebrían's Stone

3 x Dúnedain Warning

2 x Sneak Attack

Tactics (12 cards, total cost: 14)

2 x Trollshaw Scout

2 x Watcher of the Bruinen

2 x Blade of Gondolin

2 x Rivendell Blade

2 x Feint

2 x Unexpected Strike

Neutral (7 cards, total cost: 19)

3 x Gandalf

2 x Song of Kings

2 x Song of Travel

Allies: 19

Attachments: 16

Events: 15

Strategy:

1) Boost Elrohir's DEF with Arwen and Dúnedain Marks to avoid problems with the Goblins during stage 1 and 2

2) Play the Songs on Elladan - he's the one who can spare some resources

3) of course Imladris Stargazer plays a key role, especially against the Nameless Things, so get her out before stage 3

4) even if you don't achieve 3): most of the cards have a cost of 2 or below, so the Nameless Things shouldn't make you nervous

5) weapons should be played as early as possible; you will loose them in stage 3, but once you get past the goblins, the worst is behind you

6) don't try to play the Northern Trackers at all cost;s they only come into play when Elladan has a Song of Travel; most of the other spirit cards are more useful (and cheaper), especially when played early

7) The tactics allies are more or less meatshields. The Watcher can be used to assist your heroes in attack without wasting your cards

yes i have similar idea before i make my Aragorn/Denethor/Gloridindel deck. Work quite well but no broken like my last deck. Which is good cose i hate easy wins!

Actually i see all your decks build up with 1 core set Leptokurt. I have 2 core set so my deck building is little bit different. More sneak attack more Test of will and so on. 1 core set make game a bit more difficult right? Hmmmmm maybe i should to do same……..
