Does it seem backwards to you?

So I just got The Raven's Song and with it that one cycle of cards; "At the Point of a Blade," "Fights No Sword Can Win" and "The Raven's Message".

So Military kills Power, Power Kills Intrigue, Intrigue kills Military.

It feels kind of backwards doesn't it? With Military VS Intrigue, shouldn't it be more like Cersei's "Power is Power" scene from the tv series when Littlefinger is all blabbing about how he knows her secrets and she just has her guards throttle and nearly slit his throat?

And Shouldn't Intrigue beat power? Like what happened to Robert. Intrigue types can use all sorts of tricks to kill or demean or marginalize people of true authority.

And shouldn't power defeat military? Like say outlaws VS the King's justice? People of Authority can control and command military types.

Hardly a matter of much importance of course but it was bugging me enough that I felt compelled to state my thoughts.

Well, it could go either way. Many battles have been won because of spying or treachery, so it makes sense that intrigue beats military; power is often taken by force of arms, so it makes sense that military beats power; as for power beating intrigue, I don't really know, but it completes the cycle. Don't let it bug you.

I would not consider guards grabbing you on the street and cutting your throat to be a military challenge. To me a military challenge is warfare or an open duel.

If anything, I would actually call what Cersei uses a power challenge, since it's her exercising her authority as Regent.

I realize that this still supports your point, but perhaps from a slightly different angle.

surprisingly i think it kinda works out, intrigue beats straight military with backdoor politics, miltary beats power with battle hardened prowess and power beats intrigue with the ability to muster support regardless of tricks and deals.
