Begginers Questions to rules.

By najshot, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

1. How many cards can I play? Beside the house card and the plot card. Are there only 8 spaces? (I mean there is no real instruction to this in the manual)

2. If there the game space is full (I mean by having 8 cards if thats the max) can a player discard a card to play another one by random or only by some card effects?

I'll have more questions soon (as we generaly come into questions like this when playing the game with my friends :P )

I am not sure where this idea that there is a limit on how many cards you can in play has come from. There is no "real instruction" in the rules because… there is no rule on how many cards you can play. If you have the resources and the means to play every card you draw, then by all means, play every card you draw.

it came from here:

There are only 8 slots for cards in the video :)

They probably didn't want to film a game with too many cards at once. Afaik, there are games with a limit on the number of cards you can have in play. AGoT isn't one of them. If there was a limit, it would be written in the rules along with how it is enforced.

The explanatory graphic for card position in the video is just that - a graphic. If that is the only place an "8 card limit" is referenced in any way - and it is - how would a player who buys the game but never looks at youtube know about the limit?

The game rules do not place a limit on how many cards you can have in play, or in your hand, etc. Without a specific reference to such a major restriction anywhere in the rules, it's pretty safe to say the video does not impose it.

It's just for tutorial purposes. I have seen an entire side of the table get filled up with Bolton shenannigans.
