Glorifindel new deck building

By Glaurung, in Strategy and deck-building

In my opinion New Glorifindel change a metagame for solo play. After many experiments i come to the point. Glorifindel, Denethor, Arragorn (Core set).

This deck is really powerful!!! Starting threat is only 25 and with cards like Asfaloth, UCourage, Light of Valinor, Elrond Councel, GGreetins, Sword that was broken, BBrand,Sneak attack, Test of will, Haldir, Gildor, Celebrian stone, Protector of Lorien, Healing herbs(mostly For Rhosgobel),Steward of Gondor,Dunedian Mark, Arwen,Cleowine, Riddermark Finest and Daeron runes you really have the best player cards in one deck!

Aragorn and Glorifindel quest and kill Denethor heal and defend. On the moment when you play Sword than was broken every one get +1 will power you can quest easy 25 every turn. Even Snowbourn scout get 1 will power. Gildor have 4 will power and Gandalf 5 will power! Haldir is 3,2,2,3 Ranged and Sentinel.

But mot crazy is Gildor 4,2,4,3. He is a monster-Elf. Tnen Glorifindel on Asfaloth and Riddermarks Finest can get rid of any location in 1 turn.

Arwen quest for 3 and give one more defense to Denethor(he have U courage by the way to look what is coming and defend or defend twice) and this is q crazy powerful! I dont even know how you can lose with this deck!

The main idea is here you can experiment more as well to find even better combo.

If I wasn't sold on getting the Dwarrowdelf cycle before, this post just sold me.

Yes i should type: Aragorn and Glorifindel for quest and kill, and Denethor for defend and heal.

Sounds good, I'm espcially glad that someone went for the Coragorn alternative. I plan to build a deck around new Glorfindel and Loragorn myself, not sure yet if it will be a secrecy deck or not. Perhaps I'll add Bilbo or Bifur (I just don't get warm with Denethor). Or a tactics hero to make things more interesting.

First idea was also Lore Aragorn but then is not easy to play Sword that was broken. I choose Aragorn leadership cose he also not tap for quest.

Tactics also cool but then i cannot win Rhosgobel cose i need lore for this quest for sure. So i come to conclusion Lore/Spirt/ Leadership.

So here is a first build. Try against Rhosgobel TLD FOS RHG and HFG. Working quite well.

Play Massing in Osgiliath. 2 game 2 win no problem. Very solid deck. Only 1 quest is still chalenge: RTM. Really dont have enough time cose of Gollums threat. But if i add 2 dwarfen tomb and 1 more GGreetiings i will make it. Dol-Guldor i dont think so……… This one need very specific deck only agaisnt this quest.

So the game is more easy now then before. No fun…..no challenge. I dont wont really play with this deck………I thing i will ban new Glorifindel for me as Beravur and Will of the west before.

OFF: Why does the deck be build with acess to 2 Core Sets?

ON: Seems a good deck…

If you create it with only 1 Core Set, could it be more challenging?

yes sure 1 core set is more challenge. But i just apply the tournaments rules 50 cards minimum and no more then 3 copies.

So i didn make my rules or some just use official staff cose im tournament player so i always do everything by official rules to be sure dont make mistake on the tournaments. But any way there is no tournaments for now and looks like it will never come……Still i think new Glorifindel to powerful so if you want challenge he is not a hero for you. He make everything much more easy.

Ok, so I played some games with this deck against TLD and JdtA. The results are convincing so far:

TLD: 5-1

JdtA: 4-0

The only loss was due to some huge amount of drawing the wrong treacheries at the wrong time (and still I almost won!). The deck does a fantastic job against Anduin, so everyone who does have problems here should try this deck. It's almost impossible to loose. In my last game I had Chieftain Ufthak + Hill Troll in the setup. Then I got the following encounters:

1) Hill Troll No 2

2) Dol Guldur Orcs

3) Wargs

4) Dol Guldur Orcs

And still I managed to win, thanks to 2x Elrond's Counsil and 1x GG which bought me enough time. Also got 2 Gandalfs during the game. Finished this one in 11 turns, only because I got a second Wargs in the last stage (plus a Gobin Sniper). Only two locations (East Bank and Necromancer's Pass) and some harmless treacheries.

A superb deck with only little weak spots (lack of allies comes to mind which can be a problem during the first rounds). The scores are mediocre, but as this deck is built to beat all scenarios, that's not too surprising (I still get results between 100 and 110 against Anduin - which isn't too bad after all). Had to get used to it, so the first games were a bit wonky, but now that i got the concept I face only little problems.

Suggestions for improvements:

1) I seldom use Protector of Lórien. It's a strong card, but then other cards already boost the WP and defense, so it's not of much use

2) Where is Henamarth? - Yes, there is Denethor, but when he defends he can't look in his Palantir, so….where is Henamarth?

3) I absolutely love Erebor Hammersmith and miss him here. He's got great synergies with Daeron's Runes and rocks every scenario in which you have to discard tons of cards.

3) More copies of Arwen? Instead of Riddermarks Finest.

4) The deck usually produces enough resources, so probably Snowbourn Scout could be removed and replaced by Dúnedain Watcher, Faramir or Elrohir. The Watcher could help in case that BB didn't come into play.

Yes i have sole changed in deck already. i add Henemarth he is really cool. Take out all Rideermark Finest and add more snowbourn scout.

Still think POL is really powerful card and i need 3 in this deck in my opinion.

So with new changed i make Dol-Guldor right now!!!! WOW!!! 254 scores. Yes is terrible scores but i win!!!! And game was really hard!! I meet all problem like USpawn and 2 Cought in the Web draw all my deck on the last stage card but Glor and Aragorn to powerful combo so still manage to win.

So this deck is most powerful solo deck for now in y opinion. Can win any quest! Even Dol-Guldor. At last i manage to do this. And this deck also quite good as a partner deck in coop game. Aragorn is sentinel and you can reduce a threat of you partner an so on.

But bad thing………this is to powerful and as i always complain about game is easy so now is to much easier. I will use this deck really rare. But in the case of tournament i have the deck to play.

FFG please we need more challenge!!!

All your notice is really helpful. So make your changed and get more results with this deck.

If you change to Aragorn (Lore) does it make RtM easier?

Hmmm very good idea actually……… Loragorn/ Glorifindel/ and some another leadirship hero…… yes there is a point!

I play deck with Loragorn/Denethor/Eowyn and I beat every quest with it including Dol Guldur and RtM even with a good score (148 and 77). So If you want to have an all-purpose deck, include Loragorn. Coragorn isn't bad at all (everyone knows). In your deck, he gains access to some strong cards like Sneak, Sword and Steward, but triple sphere decks, I think, will never be the best of all.

Your deck inspired me to test Glorfindel instead of Eowyn because it's true that my deck isn't fully reliable when I face the big guys - especially those of Anduin and Carrock.

Sounds good!

I always build up for solo game triple sphere deck and never try double sphere one.

I wont to try it.

Can you share your deck list?

It is pre-Foundations solo deck with just 1 core set. I tried to go through each quest without any change in deck list. Cards which I seldomly used were Dwarven Tomb, Stand and Fight, Will of the West. Maybe I would put them out and try Daeron's Runes. Superstars are Arwen, Traveller, Warden, Runner. Can't imagine good (means all-purpose) lore deck without Forest Snare and Strider's Path. And Denethor with his preventing ability is simply irreplaceable.

Now I'm trying triple sphere dwarven deck and it is awesome (Anduin best score 76 against 114 with deck below), however, I have hundred times failed to beat Dol Guldur and that's why I say two sphere is better.
