How to return to AGoT LCG?

By Methos, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Hello everyone!

I was a Thrones player from quite a long time ago and I have seen that a great many things have changed. I understand that the CORE SET is the "official" format moving forward and it encompasses the Living Card Game Format.

I have actually bought the Core Set and played with a few friends - and we actually enjoy the balance of the game as it stands, and were wondering how to move forward.

I have a few questions:

1. What is the next Chapter Pack that continues the collection of the Core Set?

2. How radically different now is organized play?

3. Is this game leaning more towards a multiplayer style rather instead of the traditional single opponent style?

4. What are some of your opinions of the quality of the game now as opposed to pre-LCG format.

A good friend of mine owns his own LGS and I am looking for answers to make a recommendation for him to see if he wishes to support this game, in this new format, for both casual and OP purposes.

I would appreciate your most honest and candid answers.

Thanks,

Methos

1) all the chapter packs continue the Core Set. Summer and Winter introduce the seasons which all the Time for Ravens CPs play off of. A lot of the cards in the chapter packs play off of the plots found in the Ancient Enemies CP.

2) not sure if it is radically different. There are monthly tournies that are up to the local group to run and decide how to run and there are leagues which is like a limited weekely event that FFg runs. both have prize support.

3) not really. Though to some people's chagrin there are some cards that are stronger in Multiplayer.

4) qualioty of design? its the same, maybe a little better as there are a lot of different mechinics to try out right now.

Hey, everyone!

I'm in a similar boat as Methos, here. Long time player of the game but just now got into the LCG aspect with the purchase of the boxset over the weekend.

I miss my Martel and Greyjoy, though, so if anyone can tell me which Chapter Packs to get to fill those two houses out, and make some recommendations as to exactly which Chapter Packs are the best to purchase to continue rounding out the game for all the houses?

Money is pretty tight, so I don't think I'll be picking up all the Chapter Packs as they come out, but definately want to get the more important packs to continue rounding out the decks for our casual play.

Thanks for your help!

buying recomandations on some of the older cps: new.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_foros_discusion.asp

As for the newer CPs...

A change of season adds some keyuword support and seasonal support. If you want Theon GJ or the ability to search for a raven 9to make it summer winter) then get 1 of these

Refugees of War really helps lower the godl curve for all house. If you like stark get this one (Cat of the Canals). Not sure how many you need yet.

The Raven's Song gives you samwell, again the best nuetral card draw in the LCG. I'd get 3 of these just to be able to put sam in 3 decks wihtout having to pull him (that said i currently have 6 decks that use him, 1 standard and 5 LCG)
