Why are we not playing with agendas? I read somewhere else in the thread that someone didn't want to play against maesters, but maesters decks aren't even that good this year based on inspection of the results of various recent tournaments.

The comment about having the restriction to prevent maester decks most (mostly) tongue in cheek. Mainly we want to inspire and encourage creative deck building by placing a small restriction such as no agenda. In this way we can ensure that we don't see the same 'cookie cutter' decks as at other tournaments. So the short answer is there really is no reason other than 'for fun' or 'just because'.
EDIT - To put it anther way. Everybody like vanilla ice cream, but sometimes you just want a bowl of strawberry.

Due to popular demand for a prep tourney for World's ( which is 1 month after this ) we are lifting the agenda ban for this tourney and rebranding it as the "Official Unofficial War of the World's Warmup" ! Rolls off the tongue eh?
All rules are now standard tourney rules. Hope to see you in the trenches.
Nice!! I approve of this message. I just started playing Agot 1 month ago, but I was a competitive magic player for about 5 years.
Now I just need to figure out a new deck to play.

Oh one more thing, you might want to update the first post you made about the format--it might confuse people since the rules have changed =]
i tried, unfortunately ffg wont let you edit posts after a certain amount of time has passed.
A re-post might be best, unless we are now considering our "hidden agenda" as prepping for Worlds.
