DC Hidden Agenda Invitational; Sat. Oct 6th

By dcdennis, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

When : Saturday October 6th (Columbus Day weekend)
Where : Labyrinth Games
What : aGoT Tourney
Restrictions : All Agendas are BANNED (note: this only means actual agendas. chargendas and seal of the crown type cards are allowed).
Schwag : There will definitely be a trophy of some sort for first place. There will be a standard DC raffle with the latest Chapter Pack to give away and some other random agot related stuff. Sansa Prize. I will also investigate getting some T-Shirts printed up to give away as a gift for attending. Maybe some custom house cards or something.

Entry Fee : not to exceed $15 (depending on the final cost of all the raffle prizes and trophy etc…)

Hello Everyone,

Please consider yourself an honored guest-by-invitation to the DC Hidden Agenda Invitational. As you can see from the description above and the Tournament Name, all standard agendas are banned for this tournament as a fun change of pace (ah who are we kidding, we just didn't want any maesters :P ). Additionally, we are open to the idea of relaxing the restricted list if the attendees are interested (either upping it to 2x restricted cards, or just not restricting anything). I have not booked the venue yet as I wanted to get a feel for possible attendance before locking us in. We chose Columbus Day weekend so that anyone traveling would be able to stay over and maybe do a drunk draft saturday night and/or have a melee sunday afternoon. Please reply with tentative availability when you get a chance!

Some free lodging is available to those who wish to come in from out of town on a first request first serve basis.

Contact me via email with any questions you may have (dennis dot harrison dot jr at gmail dot com). Final decision on the restricted list will be made several weeks prior to the tourney to give adequate deck prep time.

Hope you all can make it!

I am interested in attending but would need a place to stay if possible.

For those who don't understand why this is funny, it's because dcdennis and bomb are friends; he's not laughing our of devious spite that bomb won't have a place to stay. :)

hehe ya i guess i should have clarified that bone has been putting up with my bull for almost two decades. might not have been obvious to others.

Would this be a decent event for a new player? I am interested in the game, but have no local meta or even a local game store. It isn't too far a drive down from where I am in PA.

I wont lie to you, DC has some of the stiffest competition in the country, but absolutely you should come. The environment will be super relaxed and friendly and I guarantee that you will have a good time regardless of your results. We had several brand new players at our regional last month and they all gave great feedback on the event. So come on down, if only to get a feel for how tournaments go and to see some deck types that you wouldn't get to see in your local scene.

I generally play for fun. I have absolutely no intention on winning the tournament and if I do, it's because I paid my opponents off with empty promises.

If anything, you will learn a lot about the game and meet new people by attending. The only requirement for you is to bring a lot of beer. I prefer hoppy IPAs. ;-)

You should totally come! There are some others from central PA that are coming, too. I'm not sure what part you're from, but it might help you get connected to some other players.

Well you have convinced me, as of right now I will put it on the calendar. :) So far I have just been collecting the cards, but I have a decent card pool. I have yet to play a game though, haha.

I am near Scranton which is north-east PA, about a 4 hour drive so it shouldn't be bad. Maybe I'll bring some Victory Hop Devil for you Bomb!

"Maybe I'll bring some Victory Hop Devil"

Sir, I believe you have already mastered the social aspect of Thrones.

I am out of the Hartford area in CT and have not decided on whether I will be driving or taking a flight down yet. I might bring some weary travelers along with me if I can talk them into it.

By the way, are proxies going to be allowed? I'm sort of stuck between a rock and a hard place with some of the 40 card packs I already have bought and would prefer to not spend a bunch of money just to have 1x or 2x more cards for a deck I'd probably be building and playing only for the theme of the event. If the intent of a themed tournament is fun, I'd think yes they could be allowed as long as they don't look like Dennis' hand written version of Robb Stark and are good colored print outs.

Also, this should be legal in this tournament for all to use.

Please email or PM me for specific tourney regulation questions. If for some reason a card is not readily available in your area, I imagine we can allow a proxy or two on a case by case basis. We just want to be respectful of FFG here.

For example if you only have 2x To Be a Wolf from buying 2x copies of the old format Sacred Bonds pack but would like to run 3x, I don't have a huge problem with that. However, if someone shows up trying to run 15 proxies, including cards that have recently been released and are readily available everywhere, I would not be OK with that.

Also the DC Meta has several large complete collections so cards can be lent out where necessary.

Any of you gents going to Gencon this year? I will be there mainly to play in the Call of Cthulhu national championship, but maybe there will be some time to finally play GOT?

I think we are sending at least 4 or 5 people to gencon.

It's looking like I will be attending this with 1-4 additional Floridians. Hooray!

Bump.

Put it on your calendars! :)

Do we need to register? I plan to attend! Sounds like alot of fun.

Nope. But letting us know if you are coming on these boards will help a ton with planning, so thank you. So far we are tracking for 25ish attendees.

~LOL, you know what would be fun? If someone brought an agendaless Targ or Martell Maester deck and totally dominated the field with it. It would be awesome, Dennis would totally break down crying!

I might just have to play in the tournament now.

Seriously, I think it might be viable in an agendaless environment. Lanni too, with that Jaime that stands every phase. Or play him OOH out of Targ.

I meant playing a no agenda maester deck just to mock the agendaless format.
