Why is he the only charagenda that is not in-house only. Errata incoming or FFG really ment to do him like this? (no spoilers please).
Griff (CD)
~Because every House should have access to a card with artwork that badass.
We haven't actually seen the card yet, just the preview, so the printed version may be Targ only… or they could pull an "HttIT" and errata it before it even comes out.
Griff is one of the wordier card and fitting in "House Targaryen Only" may have been a space issue. Besides his agenda effect can only retrieve a Targaryen attachment per trigger, so unless you are not planning a run an agenda and are fishing for a recurring 5 gold tricon with 3 STR, he's just not that great IMO. Even then, he's a pass in my book.

If you are not running an agenda, when he dies, he must become an agenda - whether you want him to or not. If you do not control the most attachments in play, he returns to play, pretty much immediately (specifically, in the passive step of the next action window, but who's counting?). Since he leaves play, then returns, he'll come back standing with all "until the end of the X" effects expired.
So, for 5-gold (and few to no attachments in play - oh darn), any House can have a 3-STR, Noble tricon that, once played, pretty much turns a kill effect (including burn) into a standing effect. And he can soak claim. Who cares if you never use his agenda effect? If he is not "House Targaryen only," he'll show up in every deck I build without an agenda.
totally agree with ktom.
And what's the problem with targaryen attachments only? with the recent rising popularity of multi-affiliated house decks it's not something to exclude. And we still haven't seen the free city location for out of house targaryen.
btw his response works while he is in play, not when he is an agenda

Check where the quotes are again. The Response is included in the text he gains as an agenda. Therefore, he only has access to the Response text when he is an agenda.
oh indeed, didn't notice the quotes

Its Pentos. It was spoiled by FFG a month or so ago. It reduces Armies and Targ.
Also agree with ktom, though most every deck I play already has an Agenda, but he is an interesting alternative to the "oh I'll just throw MP and 1 chain on this deck cause I have no Agenda."
And I doubt its a space issue Ruvion, have you seen Meera Reed?

Some of the other other charagendas have in-House effects too, Aeron and Quentin, so that makes perfect sense to me. If he could return non-Targ attachments then FFG would have to be super careful about EVERY attachment they print. Even if he could only return Neutral and in-House attachments he would be insanely more powerful, granting Targ virtual immunity from attachment hate… infinite BodyGuards (at 0-cost), infinite Milk, etc.
My question and following comment of the attachments was referred to Ruvion's comment saying that you could use that ability only in a house targ deck, saying that it shouldn't be targaryen attachments wasn't my intention

Yeah, maybe I've been a victim of being unimaginative in my allowance for the 5+ gold character slot.
My play style (Shagga sensibilities?) sort of steers me towards an eye-poppin' "Wow!" effect for that upper tier slot instead of the bread-and-butter cost-efficient effect.

It's probably a matter of differing perpectives, but for me personally, the dogged tenacious quality exhibited by a diehard character is only novel on the very first play.
Afterwards, there's this prejudice screwed tightly in my head that such an effect only merits an exasperated "Ugh." or "Yeah, it's him again." from both sides of the table.
But that's just me: I like them shiny and flamboyant when I'm paying that much for it. I blame TRV or Canada, whichever one you prefer.
