Spiked Pit Questions

By valoren, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

1) if OL plays a spiked pit, can it only go where the hero stops, or can the pit be placed at any point along the path to the hero's destination?

2) If hero has acrobat, can OL drop a spiked pit on the acrobat hero? Will the acrobat hero automatically always save a spiked pit?

Thanks for the help.

1. Any point (as long as that point is eligible). Movement is actually set by step (well, space by space, except when jumping pits) so can be interrupted at any point. It is usually simpler though to just say 'I'm moving to here' (hero), 'I'll interrupt you here' (OL).

2. Read the wording on the card (Acrobat, I don't have it on hand). IIRC it says the character may ignore the effects of terrain/obstacles etc. Traps (pits, blocks etc) are not terrain/obstacles until after they have been resolved. As traps they will hit the Acrobat as normal, however once resolved, they have no further effect on the acrobat (eg, Acrobat suffers a Spiked pit, takes the damage, is then in the pit (losing LOS) but does not have to pay extra to get out of the pit because that is a movement effect of a terrain/obstacle which he can ignore).

Just to corroborate Corbon about Acrobat.

Acrobat does nothing against traps such as pit and blocks when they are first played. It only works against existing obstacles. Now if the Hero had Tiger Tatoo, it would be a different story as that ignores damage from falling into pit and pit Trap cards.
