I have the rule book and need from forces. Would like to get others hooked so I am looking for recommendations for the following:

Best balanced 150 points of axis and allies for introduction games
Best balanced 150 points of each to add to the 150 above for bigger games.

The Revised core set seems to be good value but the points seem off with the axis having a more than 20 point advantage without additional options.

If you can manage to find the Original Core Set, that gives you nicely balanced forces for both sides.

Alternatively, by the RCS, plus Spec Ops, Command Squads (regular or heavy), plus a medium walker box for both sides, and then it will be easy to get 150 points for each side and will be fairly balanced.

It is very unlikely you will find the Original Core Set. If you do, it will likely be outrageously expensive.

That said, you can get all of the models in it, minus the two heroes, in their regular unit boxes, from discount online retailers for about US$130. That's $30 more than the MSRP of the Original Core Set, and gives you all the options for the walkers plus the extra models from the Battle Grenadiers and Combat Rangers.
