Additional Dice

By Flashie_Dirk, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

I would get at least 2 sets, maybe up to 4.

I'd pay for 2 more sets to give the heros a set and the overlord a set.

I'd also buy one off sets that change the faces in power level, especially since it would be helpful for homebrewers. Kind of like the custom made hero quest dice.

I would buy at least three more sets. I can't believe they don't include more with the game. I can't really see anyone saying "I can't believe all the extra dice they gave me, I never use them"

4 sets for me!

Place my order for two sets.

I think it's more that they provided exactly the amount of dice you needed. I haven't played through the whole campaign yet but I've yet to see any combination that requires more dice than those provided. I can fully understand why people want more dice especially if you're dealing with a larger table and you don't want to reach, but so far in play we've found the number of dice to be perfectly adequate. In fact because of the limited dice something feels more social about the game, because players are constantly paying attention for what dice you need and passing them to you, they're also fully engaged in the game as opposed to when I'd play 1st edition where a player would make his move and then space out until his turn came up. If your players are being weird about others touching their dice tell them this isn't D&D, it's a board game, and I don't know anyone who has his own set of Monopoly dice (though I'm sure someone will now proudly show me theirs)

That all said, I'm not saying I wouldn't buy a spare set if they were to come out with such.

I would buy 1 or 2 sets. Chasing the black die around the table was super annoying.

I'll definitely buy another set of dice.

I'd buy four more sets of dice. Two more would be a must!

Yeah i would pick up a 2nd or 3rd set.

I would definately buy at least 5 sets.

Agree wholeheartedly with the RPG comment of trying to play with only one set of dice.

I'd probably get 2 more sets, maybe 4 depending on the price.

Depends on the price, but…at least 2 more sets.

I bought four extras sets for D1 and 4 sets of the gold/silver dice too.

I'd be in for four sets for D2.

Definitely buy at least two extra sets. Maybe more.

I would buy a set.

I would buy multiple sets as well. We used two sets when we played (2 copies of the game), and peole were still scrambling for the dice. I am not sure why they don't take the RPG approach and market the heck out of these things:

- sparkly dice

- gothic looking symbols for the Overlord set of dice

- swirly dice (everyone likes swirly, right?)

- etc., etc.

Created an account just to respond to this thread. Got my copy finally this week and the first thing I thought upon unboxing and reading the rules was would be nice to have extra dice. Would ideally have a set for each player. So would buy four sets.

Minimum of 2 more sets. From there as many as needed to keep game flow going. "Who has the blue die? OL, can I use yours?"

While you are waiting, just do what we do. They are all six siders. Created a simple chart in word with the numbers matching sides. Roll some normal six siders and compare to the chart. Easy peasey.

I would definitely pick up 2-3 sets. I have players who tend to "lose" their dice in all their table clutter and waiting for them to gather them up can be irritating.

I would buy a set of extra dice, and depending on the price possibly more than one set.

Have played 1st edition for the first time the other day, the main comment was "I wish there was an extra set of dice". I immediately went out and bought 2 sets. It's a shame they aren't compatible with 2nd edition.

So, from experience, YES I would definitely buy at least one (probably 2) sets of dice.

I had the chance to play an evening of 2nd Edition on Friday, and can confirm that I would without doubt purchase a second set of dice.

I'd buy 1 set. Mainly for the extra blue die. 1 blue die is not enough for this game. It's a pain to pass that main attack die all around the table. With 2 blue dice, 1 can be for the OL at all times and 1 can be passed between the 4 heroes.

I would buy 1-2 sets, I believe.
