I got both runewars and dungeonquest and dungeonquest has hero cards for descent 1ed. I don't have descent first edition. I was wondering, will the conversion kit also involve heroes from game such as Dungeonquest, runewars and runebound? If the conversion kit includes all of the heroes of the realm of terrinoth it would be a buy for me
conversion kit, realm of terrinoth question
I think it'll do!
From the Converstion kit page here on FFG:
"The Descent: Journeys in the Dark Second Edition Conversion Kit includes everything you need to transfer your first edition heroes and monsters to second edition.
With Second Edition-compatible cards for every monster and hero ever produced (including promotional heroes!), this convenient conversion kit is an indispensable tool. So whether you want to bring your extensive Descent collection with you on new adventures, or you’ve got a favorite hero that you choose every time, we’ve got you covered."
I read that before posting, When they say 'cards for every monster and hero ever produced' is it in the context surrounding Descent first edition only? Or includes heroes from games such as runewars that never had anything with descent before but are still in the realm of terrinoth?

That part make me hope ALL heroes are ported to 2nd edition…but I might be wrong:
"or you’ve got a favorite hero that you choose every time, we’ve got you covered."
runewars and runequest use the same heros as 1ed descent. I know the promo heros are going to be in it but not to sure about the the heros from the last expanion for runequest, which had the aztec theme to it. Also not to sure about the Midnight heros that was in the one runequest expaion set.
Yes, cards for all 48 heroes made for Descent 1 will be in the conversion kit, including the 6 from Dungeonquest.
Here's the rundown:
20 heroes from Descent base game
6 heroes from Well of Darkness
6 heroes from Altar of Despair
6 heroes from Tomb of Ice
6 heroes from Dungeonquest
4 promo heroes
Plus cards for 3 familiars (Ronan's Pico, Vyrah's falcon and Shallara's dragon - she's from DQ BTW), maybe there will be a token for the falcon and one for the dragon as well.
50 monster cards, that's 25 act I and 25 act II cards:
12 monsters from Descent base game
3 monsters from Well of Darkness
5 monsters from Altar of Despair
5 monsters from Tomb of Ice
As the 8 heroes from Runebound Midnight and the 6 heroes from the Mists of Zanaga expansions were never officially converted for D1, they won't be included in the conversion kit, even though scaled miniatures exist.

Yes, it will. Barring the heroes from the Runebound expansions Midnight and Zanaga, as Columbob thoroughly detailed.
I would fully expect to see the DQ heroes since they had 1e Descent hero cards in the DQ box and all the heroes released for Runewars and Runebound have also been released in various Descent expansions (barring the two mentioned above.) Therefore, they should be in there.
Midnight was set in a different fantasy world, not part of the Terrinoth setting, so the omission of those heroes is not a huge loss in my eyes. It's a little more unfortunate that the Zanaga heroes probably won't be included, but hey, it's good fodder for homebrew heroes. =)
As an aside, if you're thinking of collecting Runebound, it's a great way to get your hands on the hero figures for most of the heroes from D1e. Won't help you for monster figs, but it's something. There were 6 heroes published for Descent that never got published for Runebound, but those figures are available in the game Drakon, which is still in print as far as I know.
And of course the promo heroes, which have been difficult to find for several years now. Unless you're willing to drop mad cash on eBay or something, I'd recommend just getting used to the idea of using proxy figs for those guys. =P
