Man, screw that. I like how everyone around UFS HQ is getting hooked up and the rest of the USA gets boned. Everyone I know is definitely mad that we wasted time winning/trading for patches we can no longer use. I understand there was a company switch during it, but this is ridiculous. This ruins the game for the guys that don't have the time/money to head out for promos that can easily be run/given out during Regionals that are coming up. Very poor decision. Anyone who feels the same should post. Maybe if enough of us voice our opinion, they might change it. Don't know if we don't try. Forewarning: This is general discussion, so this post is not trolling, so keep any flaming comments to yourself. I'm just voicing an opinion that I'm sure many others feel in the hopes FFG might do something about it. If you are one of the people that can make it, Congratz! I hope you do well. Thanks.

Exactly. I feel like the time I spent winning my patches is wasted time, now. I understand they can't make it easilly accesible to everyone, but, at least have more than one area for the redemption.

Ya, it's all I'm asking. I mean, worlds you are going there to prove you are the best, and could be walking away with a char of yourself or a team card. That is worth the time/effort in my eyes. Having to spend all that money for only promos isn't worth. They could be super good, or not worth the time, money or effort.

After the final event in February 09, any player with a patch is invited to the special Path of the Master: Journey's End tournament that will take place in April or May (once the venues have been decided). For every unique patch a player brings, he/she will receive a copy of a special promo card only available to participants of this tournament (maximum 13 cards). There will be three of these events throughout the world - North America, Europe, and Australia/NZ and the lucky winners of these events will receive any copies of the participation card that are left to give out as he/she sees fit!

That doesnt make it any less a bunch of crap i mean i wanted 2 go and if it was any closer to VA i probably along with anyone else in my store with patches probably would to but its not worth the effort to go hours and hours away when id rather go 2 regionals and worlds......it really should be somewhere in the middle of the us like nebraska or kansas......idk hell somewhere that its equal distance from all 4 sides of the border

Good, it goes to show the calibur of the people who play this game. Last time I checked, general discussion was anything in general you want to talk about. I'm glad it doesn't bother you. I'm not glad you can't read and are a flaming a post I politely asked people not to. Thanks for your opinion, but I will ignore it for more intelligent responses.

They announced almost a year ago that these events would be the only place to acquire the promos. Where were you then?

Where were you when Hatman raised concerns about this exact same thing almost a year ago?

They're not going to hand these cards out at regionals because it kills the impact of the event. This thing was a year long, and they want it to culminate in something special for the people who are going to put forth the effort. Just as they do with every thing else.

The event and the way it was going to be run has been posted since April of 2008. Plenty of time to save up money knowing there will only be one event in all of North America. So,

Step 1 - win local events and receive free patches

Step 2 - attend the final event and you can trade/show those patches for a special promo

Step 3 - win the event and receive any copies of the participation card that are left to give out as you see fit!

How would that work if you just got them at a regional? How would those special promo's be different from any other promo given out? Just saying...

I was hoping FFG would fix the situation, but didn't as I also said before. I do put forth the effort. I run their tournaments. I buy their product pretty heavy. I play a ton during the week. I promote it around the whole area and spend tons of time teaching people how to play. By your statement, the kids that came down every week and fought for the badges didn't put forth any "effort" to earn those promos. It's their fault their parents won't take them or they don't have the money to go. Maybe you should re-evaluate your life, and tone down the elitism a bit.

um... people from Florida ARE going >_> they save up in advance b/c it was announced like in January/Feb a YEAR ago that there would only be 1 of these events in the US and then they buy a handy little thing called a plane ticket... most round-trip tickets only cost like 200-300 (or less depending on how far you book in advance), and then there's the hotel costs, which many people have gotten in the habit of splitting with others who are going to cut down on the costs significantly... and really, i bet people are happy just to hang out with other players, trade cards, get some games in with people they only get to see a couple times a year, enjoy free stuff (i'm willing to bet that the 'exclusive PotM' promo is NOT the only thing that gets given out by FFG that weekend) and just have a blast.

anyways, most people who are going will probably be leaving with 13 copies of whatever card it is... most people don't need 13 copies of a single card... and then there's the UK PotM event, where most people will again leave with 13 copies... if people are patient enough they'll probably have their playsets within a month or two...
