As the support speciallists are drawn from institutioins (or even races) outside of the regimental norm they will not have had the basic training and background represented by these choices eg a storm trooper from a schola progenium wasn't brought up on a death world. The game text says that the benefits are for guardsmen but this is also ambiguous as it could refer to guardsmen speciallities or as sometimes in the book any character. Logically I would probably think that no they shouldn't but does this unbalance the game? Thoughts and coimments very welcome
Do support specialists benefit from regiment design bonuses
My intention was to let the Specialists chose a different Home World from the regular regiment (Commissars and Storm Troopers in particular would take the Schola), but keep the rest of the regimental bonuses. They don't share the same point of origin, but likely would have been with the regiment long enough to gain the benefits of their other training.

I agree with this. The RAW states that they do get the regimental home world stuff because they were trained or served long enough with the regiment to learn those things, or something. But I like this idea better.

You remember correctly. The RAW reference is on p. 26.
I remember reading (take it with a grain of salt) that the Munitorium tries to attach Tech-Priests, Commissars etc. that are most like their regiments.
