Played first RTL: ...oh...god...

Okay so it wasn't as enjoyable as I hoped...mostly cause 2 of the hero players where hopping around laughing at the blood apes but... and one was a DnD DM so he found it pretty hard to figure why he couldn't pass underneath a soaring monster or why he couldn't shoot over a small kobold.

But skip those things and help me with the next questions (warning...pretty dumb ones):

1. 1200 gold for party pool, is that any way similar to the 15 conquest avatar gets at the start of the game for upgrades ?! do they lose unspent gold ?!

2. do they get 1 conquest for entering the dungeon, or just passing by ?!

3. Can I spend threat to move monsters or add die upgrades in the dungeons also ? I used a referance sheet and it some how managed to confuse me.

4. First level of the dungeon was No.9 The Prison... do the villagers block LoS and Movement for both the heroes and the monsters ?! do they exit trough the glyphs ? are they subject to the same rules as heroes (I.e. start your turn next to a glyph to use it) if basically no heroes are around can I just spawn a monster next to the villager ? can I spawn a monster in the room with them and just kill them ?! I mean there wasn't anything stopping me I suppose... and couldn't I just open the door and kill them again ?!... can they move with the villagers even if they haven't yet oppened the doors for them? a lot of questions since in my experiance heroes ever had any company besides familiars.

5. Seems kinda much for a first week but can the heroes basically move from tamalir to a dungeon have an encounter on the way there and then go in the dungeon, finish it and that would be a hole week worth of actions ?!

6. How does wind pact actually work since the hole area in a dungeon is actually revealed from the start. And I'm pretty sure I'm right but... wind pact does not actually save you from a spiked pit trap, it just helps you not fall in the pit so you can still have LoS.

7. Pretty sure I'm wrong on this one but gonna ask it... I'm pretty sure I read LTs move a long a trail of a type...does that mean he can move over more trails of the same type ?!

8. Do master monsters give 50 gold as normal when killed ? (donno where this came from seriously)

9. Do I have to tell them the special abbilities of the boss in a dungeon ?! not talking about extra health and armor. (reach, etc.)

10. You shuffle the location, encounter, dungeon cards everytime you draw right ?! and do you draw all 3 dungeon levels at once or one by one?

12. Figure refer to hero characters and do villagers count (with corrupted terrain I mean) ?!

13. Where is question No. 11 ?!

Hope to see some awnsers...and sorry for all the retard questions but manual is at the gaming place and pdf does not work around hear so I can't scour the rules manually on the internet. These are basically all the questions ...or some at least...that showed up... mostly because I was the only one who actually read the rules...so when something "wierd" popped up... all the heroes quickly agreed to disagree with me.

1. No it is not. RtL Pg 8, last sentence of item 3.
Any unspent money remains in the party treasury.
Still pg 8, now last sentence of item 6. Note the the OL gets starting XP, not starting CT.
These XP cannot be saved for later, and any not spent at this time are wasted.

2. They get 1 CT for entering a mapboard location (where there is a dungeon) they have not been to before. Entering the dungeon is not a requirement. The various rules for this are slightly inconsistent in wording, but the above answer is still accurate. RtL pg 10
If the heroes end their movement in a dungeon area, they receive one conquest token if they’ve never been to that area before.

3. No. The ability to spend threat for movement and dice upgrades (like heroes spend fatigue) is specifically available in Encounters, not available in dungeons. See RtL pg 14, the whole section entitles "Overlord cards and Threat in Encounters".

Villagers represent people in heroes must protect and/or rescue. Villagers have 1 armor and 6 wounds, and are immune to traps, but can be attacked by monsters. They cannot attack, perform movement actions other than moving through glyphs, or carry items. Villagers move up to four spaces a turn, moving after all of the heroes have moved, and are controlled by the hero players.
They do not prevent spawning (spawning rules on Pg 12 DJitD require hero LOS to prevent spawns. They must sart next to a glyph to use it as they are not given any exception to the default glyph rules. IIRC you can not only spawn monsters in teh rooms with them you can start monsters in teh rooms with them!

6. Wind pact will work on each level. In a few dungeons (mostly Legendary or Runour dungeons) there are also extra 'areas'. Wind pact, critically, alsp works at the start of encounters (and is for this reason one of the most important skills). Wind pact only enables you to move through pits without being affected by them. You still suffer traps from cards the same as any player, and if you are currently on/in a pit you still have limited LOS. However if you moved onto it you would avoid the 1 damage and when you move out it won't cost you an extra MP.

9. Technically no (DJitD pg 16). However this information is frequently available to other players anyway and it may not be the first time a Boss has been encountered. As a time saver, and to prevent assiduous record keeping of so-inclined players, we usually reveal everything . It changes little and saves time and effort.

10. Yes, though in the interests of more fun and variety, many people put aside cards they have used until all have been used. We do for dungeon levels, but nothing else. Levels are drawn one at a time - only when they are entered. Heroes have to make their decision whether to flee or not before seeing the next level (some levels like the Prison are a bunch of free CT for the OL if the heroes flee after seeing it). RtL pg 17
When the heroes enter a new dungeon level, the overlord draws a Dungeon Level card.

Got it all and just to be a litttle bit clear... when do I recieve threat on corrupted terrain. When any figure takes damage ?! monsters and heroes ?!

seems kinda stupid I can rack in 6 conquest so easely by just spawning and killing the prisoners...

But if I remember correctly, Monsters can't attack prisoners ;) At all!

I know there are probably arguments like 'But I'm using a breath attack! So if the prisoner just happens to get in the way when I attack this hero...'

I'm not quite sure how you'd solve that, but technically speaking you can't just spawn in the villagers, then have your monsters turn around and twerp them.

In certain quests you can not target them, or can not until a certain trigger is met, however, on the quest in question, they are fair game. I say kill 'em as quick as possible. It's one of the few freebie chances you get as OL.

IMO they had the teleporting sorc....they should just have tped and stopped me XD
