Monster Banes/Boons

By nburg, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

What do you do with monster banes and boons? For example, if a PC rolls 2 banes, as a default they could suffer a fatigue/stress, but since monsters/adversaries don't use fatigue and stress do they take a wound? Or is it managed in a different way? What about boons?

Sorry, very new to this game and the rules have been a HUGE challenge to digest. Not their complexity, but I'm having a very difficult time locating the things I've read even with the living index.

Monsters suffer a wound instead of fatigue. For stress, I'd just make them more likely to run away at low wounds.

For boons you can use the chart in the WFRP player's guide, or just give them an extra white die to their next action.

p.s. Heh. You should try learning it without an index or glossary like we had to ;) ..but you'll still always find plenty of help on these forums :)

in the player's guide, they have wonderful suggestions on how to treat additional/unspoken-for boons/banes. Here are some of those with some of the ones I came up with:

  • suffer misfortune on next check; grant fortune to enemy
  • Gain fortune to their next check (or ally's next); grant misfortune to their enemy
  • lose a monoeuver / gain a manoeuver,
  • gain / lose Aggression / Cunning
  • Force a leadership/discipline test to keep from routing
  • Force opponent to make a discipline test or gain misfortune on next check (their attack was so ferocious is made their opponent reel)

Thanks, guys!

I appreciate the suggestions.
