Equipment Redundancy/Quick Fix For Equipment

I think that, having Regiments dictate the equipment per specialty is the easiest fix for all these complaints about the lack of doing X. It could just be something simply noted, and then you can have an option to replace it with another weapon of lesser or higher availability in exchange for a lower/higher price.

It would be like..

Regimental Weapon Kits:

  • Weapon Specialist: Replace or Improve M36 Lasgun with X, -/+ points. Customize/add onto is X points.

And then say at the GMs discretion, they're allowed to have them start with something of equal availability instead of that.. This way a Heavy Gunner can have say, a Heavy Stubber and another with a Heavy Flamer if you have two Heavy Gunners in your party.

Or you can represent an Imperial Guard regiment that doesn't use las weapons.

It'd avoid things like Storm Troopers having Imperial Guard Flak Armor & a M36 Lasgun they have no use for.

You could still add/improve wargear/cybernetics/bionics, but it would make things more specific and keep there from being less redundancy, like starting with two lasguns.
