Terrain and Accessory Resources

I went by a local hobby shop and found some Tamiya terrain sets.

This is from a 1/35 Barricade set. These are glued with light sanding, no primer.

For $4.99 you get two sprues, one wood one steel. One with enough wood logs for 3 Pyramids for barbed wire fences, with a couple of logs left over and 6 I beam tank traps.

1/35 Sand Bags - Two sprues for $4.99

1/35 Brick Walls - Two sprues for $4.99

These are loose sections. 4 pieces stacked on the left, 2 pieces on the right. The bricks are slightly big, but not too bad.

And Here is a 1/48 Jerry Can set. Two sprues (one shown below) for 11.99

This set has a lot of accessories for both Allied and Axis forces. The bags match very well for size next to one of the Allied Dust figures. Time for some stowage on the walkers and barrels and cans for a fuel dump.

The 1/48 Tamiya kits seem to come in black boxes, 1/35 in white.

Very nice sets. It's cool what is out there that we can use to customize our models and build terrain with.

There is a lot of stuff available. It seems to me that a lot of gamers just don't or haven't paid attention to what the model building world has to offer.

Tamiya, Hasegawa, Italeri, Verlinden, and many others, all have a large array of 1/48 WWII vehicles, accessories, figures, and diorama scenery available. Most of it seems quite a bit cheaper than the products coming form the gamer targeted companies.

Couldn't agree more. I've used one pack of the Verlinden German Vehicle Stowage set to bling up 3 medium walkers, 2 lights, and a heavy, and they look great. All kinds of rolls, tarps, bags, and boxes.

Also, with a bit of tlc you can make a GREAT urban board with O gauge model railroad buildings. I lucked into a few GREAT ones (3 3 story brick buildings, a huge 3 story bank, and a 2 story city corner unit), and a BUNCH of variable quality Plasticville pieces that will dress up nicely . . . and this will eventually make an entire city table for less than $200 . . .

I started this same thread a few weeks back so we could have all this stuff in one thread as a resource…

I swear the search function on this forum works for about one in ten searches.
