We could really use a mention what's the starting XP level of Only War characters. Like how Rogue Trader characters are at 5,000XP or something.

600 xp for Guardsmen careers

300xp for specialist careers

The unspent starting XP.

Like how Death Watch characters are considered to be worth like 10,000XP.

+600xp for Guardsmen careers to spend on at start

+300xp for Specialists careers to spend on start

So you start like a Rank 1 DH character

Since they (finally!) did away with ranks, it's kinda irrelevant, neh?

As for the "XP equivalence", even if ranks were completely removed, a starting Dark Heresy character is still 400xp, a beginning Rogue Trader is still ~5000 when all spent, and a Deathwatch marine ~14,000. Ranks are unnecessary when considerating power level in this regard as power tends to correlate to experience gained and spent.

It looks like the IG from Only War are considered base 0, plus their specialty XP; 600 for Guardsmen and 300 for Support , although I might say the Support Specialists are still considered a full 600 with all XP spent.

They got rid of ranks…but they didn't get rid of differing game power levels that can be approximated by total xp expenditure.
