Dust Warfare Table WIP

Pics for a table I am working on:

I wanted to make a table that was modular, and could have alternate panels. I still have yet to texture the grass, and add water effects. I have some birch trees to add for more terrain. I am not happy with the roads though, and want to redo them. Any suggestions?

I think they look alright, but it's never easy to tell from pics and lighting. I know GF9 is releasing Rural Roads for their Battlefield in a Box line. Might only be 15mm though.

go to games workshop they will help, very good at it.

From what I can tell, on the road sections, you have too much side to side movement in the darker color. Roads are very linear and the dust, dirt , and oil from cars will be distributed linearly along the road surface, along the driving path.

A quick search for dirt road images will get you lots of reference material.

The darker material is between the tire tracks where oil and exhaust come into contact with the dirt. The tracks are lighter due to being compressed and having less loose material.

I never thought about that. Thanks!

Your welcome.

All you have to do for reference is go outside and look, sometimes we can forget this.

Some of the best references for weathering you can find are construction vehicles. Take a look at how bulldozers weather in real life to figure out what a model tank should look like. Go to a downtown area to observe how buildings, sidewalks, and roads weather. Go to the country to look at fences and dirt roads. Failing that Google image search is your friend.
