Favorite Hero/Unit Combos

By Shadow4ce, in Dust Warfare

G'day all!

Simple question, which will I hope turn out to be very informative and give us all new ideas…

What is your favorite hero/unit combo, and why?

Rules…

  • Please, one only combo per post (you may post multiple times). gui%C3%B1o.gif
  • The combos must be Rules-legal - Same Soldier Type (Armor Rating 2 or 3) and Movement Speed Score (6 or 12).
  • No need to say Markus & Gorillas, it's obvious, (and the only combo either have).
  • Ditto Angela & Sniper team. (If you don't know why they're good, you've never seen them played).
  • You may certainly add Angela with something besides Sniper Team, just have a well documented why and/or thick skin for replies. gran_risa.gif

Basically, I'm looking for outside the box thinking. I almost included the Zombie combos in the disallowable, but I'm very curious why folks may prefer Grenadier X over Totenmeister & vice-a-versa.

My current favorite is…

Lara with Heavy Laser Grenadiers. Gives the HLG survivabikity, and is a very versatile combo, hard hitting threat to infantry and vehicles. cool.gif

So, What combos do you folks love, and why?

Angela and the Sniper/Spotter for the Axis. You have the Sniper ability(Shared) (no armor saves and no cover saves); Spotter ability (Shared)(reverse the dice so hit on blanks); Frenzy ability (Angela only) (roll additional die for each hit scored)

Haven't tried this yet, but want to:

Action Jackson plus Corps Officer.

Air drop your command squad anywhere on the board, and within 6", you have a LOT of firepower that ignores BOTH cover and armor. We're talking 19 dice against Armor 2 squad, and 13 dice against Armor 3 squad, with absolutely no way to get saves from armor or cover.

I tried Lara and Heavy Recon Gs out for the first time last night. um 20 dice versus a type 2 infantry unit. Talk about overkill! Glorious Overkill!

@ madmaxknick50 - You ignored a rule. No Scooby Snack for you! partido_risa.gif

But for those who haven't seen his combo choice yet, he spoiled the surprise. It is devastating!

@ Felkor - Sounds Tasty

@ simpatikool - Best Anti-Infantry combo out there. I agree, it's absolute overkill, except when you roll 3 total hits on those 20 dice, after rerolling misses! Honestly happened. Got 1 hit out of 20 on first roll, 2 out of 19 on the reroll. I'm pretty sure I melted those dice in the microwave while the others watched.

It has to be Rosie and Sniper team, after Air Dropping a Fireball and disembarking them and shooting. Bye-bye poor Ludwig!!!!

Strong!

Priest with BBQ or Hellboyz. His Weapons ranges match the Squads and his Wounds and Metal of Honor really help deliver the close range fast squads.

I have to say i have done this a few times and it has just devastated axis units, Assault Squad and Bazooka Joe. no cover save because of Thumper Joe carries Flame Thrower and shotguns, plus fast to boot

Rhino + Tankbusters - just for Berserk.

Ozz117 + Grim Reapers - within range of his flamethrower it wrecks Soldier2 and Heroic Stand is nice

Along the same vein try Laura with Heavy Flax Grenadiers. You get 1 less dice per grenadier, but they can be fired as burst and ignore cover which is nasty against things like sniper teams with Angela :-P

I often find my choice of who to put her with boils down to how many Walkers my opponent has. 2 or more mediums/heavies, Lara goes with HLGs. No heavies and 1 or less mediums, HFGs.

It might be boring, but I like Lara and the Heavies, and Angela and the Snipers (those sound like band names when written like that) along with the Kommandotrupp. Put the Kommandotrupp in cover near the snipers, and they can still do the Radioman shenanigans (like remote-controlling a Luther in the command phase - love doing that) along with the Medic keeping the Snipers alive, or at least trying to.

Meanwhile, Lara and the HRGs are showing why you brought so many dice in your dice bag. :)

You can´t atach Action Jackson to the Corps Officers!!! I think that one of the best combo is for the allies is Jhonny One Eye with the BBQ squad, so the unit gains Badass skill and a good way to cover itself until they get to the enemy by using the machinegun…

Action Jackson is Soldier3 and Move 6, so…. He can join the Heavy Ranger Command squad, last I checked.

Yes you can! In fact, it's the only other unit you can attach him to besides British Paras.

* Edit due to being Ninja'd! For the reasons Em_en_oh_pee stated.

Yeah, don't get Dust Tactics and Dust Warfare mixed up - no special ability is required to join a unit to a command squad in Dust Warfare - they have the same rules as any other unit for joining.
