Are there any units currently (not including airdrop) that can be reserved without it being a scenario rule?
Reserved Special Ability
The Hans can. I don't have my book with me but I'm pretty sure I have reserved him in the past using scout rule or something that allowed him to be reserved and made him fast on the turn he came in allowing him to arrive on a table edge more than 12" away from an enemy but then get a fast move after that bringing him inside 12" right away. I remember some kind of potent reserve rule for the Hans but I don't have my book and I have been playing a lot of allies lately. I've been in love with the fireball air drop lists… firedrop is so nasty!

Actually, the Scout Special Ability allows the Hans to either be held in reserve and enter from any edge with a 12" March Move, or use the Fast Special Ability on the first turn. It's an either/or ability, it does not allow both.
There's a platoon upgrade that allows reserved units to move an extra 6" once they enter the board, I believe.

Which is exactly what Strom said and I wasn't paying very close attention. My apologies to all. Lightening War is the Platoon Upgrade which allows it. However, I wouldn't think it overrides the Reserve Rule and allows you to get within 12" of an opponent.

Upon further review, I'm reversing my interpretation of this, as the Lightning War rule on page 115 clearly states otherwise…
"This means that units entering play with the Reserved special ability (but not special abilities such as Air Drop, which allow a unit to be treated as Reserved) may move up to 6” after being deployed."
The last phrase rather seals it, it's a 6" move after being deployed. Very cool! I see 10 AP being spent on a few Blitzkrieg upgrades in my near future.
Hmm that is interesting. Nice way to get rid of those nasty Heavy Walkers that sit in the back and just plug away at you all game.
Ya, I couldn't remember as I haven't played Axis in a while and didn't have my book at the time, but it was lightning war that combos with the Hans. The nice side effect of it is that it normally forces your opponent to spend scenario points just to counter you and push it away from the reserves setup. While 10 points is a lttle pricey for just getting a move/reserve bonus for the Hans, if it makes your opponent spend scenario points to counter your list, it should allow you to push the battle builder in your favour somewhere else, which is worth the 10 points in many cases by itself IMO. I still don't have my book with me or I would give proper examples, but since I haven't played axis lately I don't actually remember names for everything, I just remember there was a nice combo for the Hans and I remember the opponent having to change his battle builder strategy to compensate for the upgrade.
