So just need confirmation on this one as it has come up in recent games and I want to make sure we are all clear on it. It states in the rule book that you may only react to a close combat attack with a close combat attack, but I am unable to find anywhere where it states that you may only react to a shooting attack with a shooting attack. So it is possible then to react with a close combat attack to a shooting attack. Can anyone show me where I may be wrong on this?
Rules clarification reaction and CC attacks
I suppose if you are within 3" of them and they are using shooting weapons against you that you could. I see no reason why you couldn't. It is a weird situation as units would not normally get that close unless they were CC specialists, but I suppose it could happen where you attack them with a CC unit like the hammers and don't kill anyone. So the turn ends and they are still within 3". Now they choose to sustain attack you instead of moving away, etc, so would still be within 3" and you react and use your rocket punches… Could happen, and sounds legal to me….
You are correct on this, rules as written. So, if a BBQ squad has the moxie to get within 3" of your Kampfaffen (or more likely has suppression from your charge attack and uses their 1 Action to torch you), you may punch the fire-breathing mooks in the face!
Just making sure I wasn't actually missing anything in the book. I thought I combed it deeply, but I have been known to skip over something by accident before.
I am pretty sure we have all done that before. Its hard to absorb each and every single rule from the first time through.

Especially easy when a unit may utilize a special unit ability in one section, a special weapon ability in another, and the SAs for units are listed in the Unit area, but described in the SA area, and the weapon SAs are found by seeing the weapon in the unit area, reading the weapon description in the faction weapon area to find out if it has any weapon SAs which are described in, you guessed it, yet another SA area, lol. Although, I'm not sure how to do it any cleaner without repeating a lot of text a lot of times, and charging way more for an even more expensive book. If anything, it reinforces the importance of having individual unit cards. Had they had those on book release, complaints like this would have been minimalized. And I wouldn't still be having, "Doh" moments with each new read through, going on 5-6 now, I've lost track, lol.
