A couple of blood moon questions

By Persiatic, in Talisman Rules Questions

1. When you are lycan, it says that when you land on another characters space during night you have to attack him. Does this mean that chars like thief vampiress etc can't use their special encounter abilities and must attack in battle or psycic? (In that case it feels like a big blow to those kind of chars)

2. During night when you encounter the werewolf and roll 4 you fight him in battle and he have strenght 8, does he also get +1?

3. Related to question 1, when you are lycan and it is night does your chars special abilities still work?

4. Just to confirm, if you are a lycan and you become toad it says in the rules that I loose the lycan card, but you still become toad right?

#1: I think the idea is that you're too bloodthirsty to use special abilities are thus have to attack.

#2: Day/Night mechanic affects all creatures and the WW is a creature, so yes.

#3: I look at the Lycantrophy as sorta extra special ability, normal ones still remain, although, as in Q1, some might not work since you're forced to attack.

#4: I'd say yes.

Dam is correct on all answers!

The answer to question #1 also applies to a character like the Knight, who normally CANNOT attack another good character? He must attack while a lycan?

Not sure. It could be either "Can vs Cannot" that takes precedence, meaning cannot trumps and Knight can't attack, or "Special ability vs Rules", in which the "must" from Lycantrophy trumps the "Can vs Cannot" rule and Knight can and must attack.

If the Knight or Dark Cultist is turned into a Lycanthrope, they must attack a character when they land on them irrespective of the other characters alignment. Being a Lycanthrope overrides the characters special ability!

Thanks for the answers, It makes things a bit more complex but hey this game is already pretty complex. I just feel this expansion really is bad for chars like thief, vampiress, poor highlander, etc. And it buffs the fragile spell casters even more.

Well, I was considering that characteristic of the Knight a limitation rather than a special ability. I get your point, though. Being a Lycanthrope overrides anything on the character's card that might otherwise prevent the battle.

Same as with Lightbearers and the Dark Cultist being good I suppose.
