I was trying to think of a way in which to use the two Radiomen in the observer team to expand the number of orders I can give outside of 12 inches in the order phase. It looks like the only way to do this is to purchase a hero to serve as my command section and attach him to the observer team. At which point I would be just as well off buying a typical combat or assault platoon command squad and purchasing the extra radioman.

Is there any way to make use of the Radiomen in the observer teams to issue more orders? It seems like a bit of a waste to have two dude-guys with the radioman ability just sitting there doing nothing but calling in fire from my Steel Rains (though calling in fire *is* pretty cool, I just want egg in my beer is all

I am afraid the text on page 56 concerning the radioman description is quite adamant clear about this point. It says "his unit issues an order", so maybe you only can use it with the hero as you suggested….
