What other face to face games do you guys and gals regularly play?

Of my 2 groups, we do WFRP in one and the other rotates between odd RPG's (Arcanis, Pathfinder, Shadowrun) and boardgames when we have people missing (Old world, battlestar, etc.)

What else do you play?

jh

Deadlands Reloaded

Arkham Horror most commonly.

Cthulhu Dark less frequently.

The odd other game to try out much less frequently, In a Wicked Age, Order of the Stick.

Our mainstays are Warhammer and a Dark Sun campaign using the Warhammer rules, but we have a very large gaming library and we pull out various games for one-shots or mini-campaigns. We just did Mechwarrior, we have a Call of Cthulhu game coming up this week, and I even got a request for Twilight 2000!

Dominion

Settlers of Catan

Today it's Warhammer 3rd. Recently been playing Magic the Gathering with some old friends although my ancient cards do not stand up well so I go for entertainment. I also play Magic the Gathering with my 5 year old son. Board Games include Chaos in the Old World, Settlers of Catan, and Taluva.

In the old days when I had a gaming life I was a player in WereWolf the Apocalpse, Harn, Vampire the Mascerade, GURPS, DC Heros, and the odd D&D or Palladium game, I always had a Warhammer game I was running though.

and I forgot Boothill.

Since WFRP 3.0, all other role-playing games have become rather frivilous in a sense, its really created a very noteable paradeigm shift for us. Kind of like the feeling I got when I turned in my crappy sony erickson phone and got a android smart phone. At this point I can't imagine going back to that old phone!

Over the years I have played all sorts of games but noteably some of my favorites that I think still hold up are Alternity for science fiction RPG's, World of Darkness for that very specific Vampire/Werewolf games and Pathfinder mostly out of our nostalgia for all things D&D, but noteably also for Pathfinders really amazing writing in their adventure paths. I have a soft spot for GURPS, though I rarely run games in GURPS, its a bit unwieldy but now and again I get a desire to do something "simulationist".

As for other things, I play Mortal Online as an MMO. We do a lot of board games. Twilight Imperium being the front runner.

I've still got a D&D game and a Dragon Age RPG going but I'm hoping to turn at least one of those into a Warhammer game :-)

Very occasionally we'll play Descent or Runebound as well.

Yeah. Alternity is a really great Game. I'm happy that I own all books. But I think I will give Traveller 5 a try and see if it can throw Alternity from his throne.

And for no hard SF we play Dark Heresy.

when our group comes together we usually play warhammer and after that some casual games. on rare occasions its something like "heros in the underworld" but normally its card game sor stuff like trivial pursuit (yes that IS fun - to us)

Well the thing about Alternity is that it comes with the StarDrive campaign, which is really a game world that just fits like a perfect glove with the system.

I've never had the pleasure of any other Fantasy Flight Games but Dark Heresy has definitly come to my attention as well as Rogue Trader. Traveller is a great system, if your a sci-fi fan i think your going to like it.

That's true. I had traveller classic in german and the original edition of Traveller TNE. But the last was not that what I thought it had to be. An then I noticed and bought Alternity. I also got a mix of Mongoose Traveller in german and english. Now waiting for T5… eagerly. lengua.gif

We cycle through games on a regular basis. WFRP has finally come around and the reception was positive, so I'm hopeful that I will (in time) get to use all of the supplements that I've invested my hard-earned cash on. Given that we aim to meet once every 2 weeks, but in reality it is more like once a month, my WFRP campaign should take 3-4 years minimum!

Recent games include Diaspora (FATE) and Clockwork & Chivalry, and a splinter group is currently preparing for a new online Harnmaster campaign to try and get a more regular roleplaying fix. Over the years we've played D&D3, D&D4, Torg, A Song of Ice & Fire, Runequest, Herowars, Traveller, M&M, Hero System, Everway, homebrew systems, all sorts really.

Quorum for roleplaying is GM + 3 players - if we can only get 3 people together, we have the philosophy that Boardgame is better than No game! This is mostly "eurogame" style games like Settlers of Catan, Tikal, Pandemic, Ticket to Ride, Dominion, 7 Wonders, Ys, Puerto Rico, Citadels, Alhambra, Carcasonne, etc. etc.

Played a lot of games over the course of my gaming life. The latest has been some D&D4 and Dragon Age.

Regarding Traveller. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for it. It was the first SCI-FI RPG I played. Old Traveller is great, though it shows its age. Mongoose Traveller is pretty good. If you like GURPS then that version of Traveller is solid. But, from the beta release that I have of Traveller 5 from a few years ago, it is a heart breaker. Very much Over Written. YMMV.

Besides the Warhammer games I play in or run, I've been running The One Ring and having a blast doing so.

Warhammer has always been my mutated little treasure of choice…when I have a choice. Lately my regular Warhammer group has experienced something of a diaspora and we're spread accross multiple continents now. I'll find new torture victims, but for the moment I'm back into reading and updating my houserules, cheat sheets, library generators, etc for Warhammer. I have a short introductory game coming up next weekend but I doubt we'll get all the way through Eye for an Eye in a single sitting unless they die screaming double quick so that we can move on to something else…

When I am torn away from my dear sweet Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay I tend to play/run quite a lot of things. I can almost always toss together a Pathfinder group. For sci-fi I've been into Eclipse Phase lately, but I also like the genre they've catered to there. Burning Wheel has been fun, but I've only got a smattering of experience playing it and it seems to either hit or miss with people in a big way. Dark Heresy is another one that I seem to have no trouble convincing my friends to play, but I'm kind of burned out on running it. WEG Star Wars seems to crop up here and there, but only when my little brother comes to visit. My five year old daughter and I do a good amount of pretend-time, and she loves the characters and setting of Mouseguard (when I can convince her to play something besides various disney princesses). I even played a bit of the Beginner Box Pathfinder with her by replacing the pregen characters with mice which was a lot of fun.

For RPG's, Pathfinder and Rogue Trader are still common.

For Boardgames, Game of Thrones LCG, Lords of Waterdeep, Chaos in the Old World, and Nuklear Winter '68

Been in the mood for more board games lately so hoping to figure out Game of Thrones board game.

At the moment we are rotating through WFRP (natch!), Deadlands Classic & Song of Ice and Fire RP. We have played pretty much everything over the last 20 years or so but Legend of the 5 Rings, Earthdawn and Deadlands keep coming around more often than most.

A few of our group really like Shadowrun - I like the background fluff but its a pretty broken system - especially with the spirit/elementals summoning crap. Having the ability to summon something that nullifies half the party roles is pretty nerfed IMO.

Looking to go back and run some 7th Sea after we finish up the Deadlands stuff, but also been eyeing off that Achtung Cthulhu stuff (Cthulhu and evil Nazis how cool is that!)

I am stuck running Rogue Trader and playing in two 4e D&D games (one Points of Light, one Forgotten Realms) as no one in my groups are Warhammer fans or are willing to submit to WFRP3's supremacy.

Needless to say I need to find a local WFRP3 group.

I'm playing two games with some regularity with shared GMing (each GM runs one adventure). One is a Brazillian RolePlay based on a Zumbi Apocalipse scenario. It's called Terra Devastada, or Devastaded Land. Great system. One GM runs adventures through Z Day, the other 9 months after it.

I'm also playing and GMing a 3:16 game, another great and really simple system.

Both games are quick and simple, something around 3 hours a session. I was thinking about running some L4R one shots and a Falkenstein mini-campaign a while ago, but I kinda dropped the idea. It seems WHRP it's the only one in which we are able to stay gaming for more than 3 hours.

Oh, a friend is going to start GMing an Icons Superheroes game, street level! Yeah!

We have a long running Ars Magica campaign with our group.

With another group we wanted to take turns playing WFRP3rd and The One Ring, but we never find the time for it.

One-Shots I played:

Fiasco

Dungeonslayers

I a Wicked Age

Song of Ice and Fire

Desolation
