Opponent got the Long Tom 4 out of 5 tries and the Chef finally was able to manuver to take out my entire Sturm Grenadier squad, the only one that had not yet been raped by the Long Tom. Just brutal rolls…
Ever have one of those games?
Can't say that I've ever had that happen to me, but I have one-shotted a Pounder with a Sigrid-led Laser Grenadier squad by rolling all 6 dice as hits followed by 3 more n the Laser Special Ability reroll. My opponent didn't even bother rolling an armor save, as he'd have still taken 5 damage.
Sometimes dice happen.
Most of us have had the dice gods toy with us at least once.

If Einstein were still alive today and played table-top miniature games, he'd probably say, "I once said God does not play dice with the universe, and while that still stands, I now know dice play god with my armies!"

How did you do that with the laser grenadiers? The Laser-Gewehr cab only harm vehicles up to (and including) armour 3.
Shadow4ce: I've achieved the reverse and one-shotted a Luther in Soft Cover with a Pounder a couple weekends ago. Rolled all 6's on Sustained Attack and he failed all his armor rolls.
I have yet to use Long Toms or had them used against me. They sound pretty painful, but I don't see people crying out on the forums here about them nearly as much as I see talk about specific infantry units. So, Long Toms are good but not broken? Is that the general consensus? (excepting dice rolls at the ends of the bell curve, of course)

Right you are. I misremembered the target. My HLGs took out his pounder. It was his British Paras with AJ attached that Siggy and my LGs took out that turn. It was several weeks/games ago. I just remember the dice roll, and pretty much tabled him on that one turn. He made an armor roll for his paras, but not his Pounder.
This last weekend I only got off one Long Tom attack off out of the 5 tries, then only killed one model out of both squads that were hit. My dice have been on Tome Out since. Also, Action Jackson and his squad couldnt hit the broad side of a building with a enemy unit in it. I think they may have been a littloe air sick.
Off topic. where is the benefit of Overcharging your phasers? You roll twice as many dice and get a unloaded token in stead of rerolls. Did I misread this rule wrong, or is it as stupid as it appears?

Lets say you have AJ and a full squad of paras, and you are attacking a Soldier 2 unit. On a regular attack, you will be rolling 15 dice. On average rolls (I know, there's no such thing, but statistically speaking) you'll get 5 hits. 1/3 of 15. On a sustained attack, you'll get 8 hits, 1/3 of 15 = 5 + 1/3 of 10 misses rerolled = 3. On an overcharge, you'll get 10 hits, 1/3 of 30 = 10. Now, if you roll worse than average on initial, sustained is your baby. However, if you roll better than average on your initial, just imagine 20+ hits…
Im guessing it'll be a bigger decision on the Cobra Walker. Speculation based on DT stats: 2-3 dice reroll misses vs vehicles with 6 damage per hit, or 4-6 dice once. Bigger gamble. Bigger rewards.
I have had a bad dice game recently - had to make my armor save on my Fireball. Blanks once. Blanks twice. Blanks three times! 24 Blanks rolled. Pretty horrible day for my dice.
