There isn't one. Assess the situation involves stepping back and having a breather. Personally, I don't think there's an advanced version of this (other than the benefits available through various Talents).
I actually think there should've been an improved version of assess the situation. Something like removing one more fatigue/stress and adding one more black die to incoming attacks.
I also think that there should also have been an improved version of ranged shot and melee strike, that replaced the basic versions and added a couple of boon lines (for example with +1 damage for 1 boon and +1 damage for 2 boons or somethething).
That would give the characters the option to improve their basic attacks, which might be a good choice as they have a recharge of 0.
All basic actions should have an improved version (even spells and blessings).

Well, my main reason for wanting all the basic actions to have improved versions is because some of my players feel that they almost get too many actions and "have to" buy more, increasing the size of their card stack and making it too big. If all the basic actions had improved versions it would be easy for those players to pick one of those as it replaces a card you already have, thus improving your character abilities slightly without forcing you to get a bigger pile of cards to keep track of.
Does this mean we need Improved Perform a Stunt?

OK, that's a good explanation. I agree. You win the fight. I actually quite like the idea of Improved Melee Attack (prerequisite WS 1), Expert Melee Attack (WS 2) and Master Melee Attack (WS 3). It's nice to picture someone who does nothing particularly fancy - they just do the simple stuff very, very, VERY well.
So back to the original post. I'd go with something like:
Success: Recover 1 fatigue, 1 stress and 1 shame. Until next turn, any attack action or opposed action against you gains Misfortune.
3 Successes: Recover 1 additional fatigue, stress or shame.
1 boon: Recover 1 recharge token
2 boons: Ally you can communicate with may recover 1 recharge token. (or is this overlapping with either Guarded Position or a leadership type action? in which case, maybe 2 boons is recharge another token or add another misfortune die?)
2 banes: GM may add 1 recharge token.
That feels like the kinda spirit of Improved Dodge - relatively minor, but valuable improvement. Or is that not enough.

Yes, on the basic success line "You perform the stunt in such a cool way that an ally within close range recovers a stress."

That's exactly how I picture someone with an improved (or expert/master) version of the basic melee action. A soldier (or city watch man or any other menial/basic fighter) who's good at the basics of fighting, and knows how to inflict good hits but you doesn't use fancy moves (as much).
More improved versions of basic actions would be a welcome addition to the game, at least for my group.
Maybe it could be produced as a POD-expansion, with a few improved/advanced versions of the basic actions that doesn't have any (yet).
